Good Morning All. What one meal at Disney has blown you away. One dish that you would have to try on your next visit to see if it still has that magic. Now I had to think hard about this one,but my winner is The Spicy Kazan Roll Sushi from Cali Grill..The flavours just burst out in my mouth, especially the salmon & fresh ginger. So what is your one dish that gave you your biggest smile.;)

This my sound ridiculous but I am dying to go back to Flying Fish to order the potatoes au gratin. My DH got the steak and I went on a limb and tried something that I am usually apprehensive about ordering. The pork chop. It was a nice leap. I have had too many bad ones that I stopped ordering that out for a long time. Either way too dried out, or a bad sauce to accompany it or whatever. That pork chop with the leek mac and cheese is outstanding. But even then, when I get back to FF we are going to try fish or shellfish or pasta or something else.

Basically something to go with the potatoes au gratin. LOL!

I love au gratin potatoes. I have had them anywhere they serve them because not all places do. They are hard to shoot for conistency. Even when I make them at home, they are time consuming, and they don't always come out the same way each time. Well, I try to also use a different cheese or try new techniques to see if we like it too. Great steakhouses that are pricey, chains, everywhere, and the ones at FF are the best I have ever had. I ate the whole thing and it is a big portion. They were perfectly sliced, perfectly cooked, the creamy cheese sauce had something going on taste wise that was amazing. Just phenomenal.

The second place win goes to the steak chain (the pricey sister of the Outback chain) Fleming's. They make it with cheddar and jalapenos for some kick and they are great. If anyone has a Fleming's near them, try them. But it is a toss up between their gigiantic and delcious baked potato that comes with tiny dishes of butter, sour cream, chive, bacon, and cheddar, and they let you build your potato as you wish. LOL!

It's the Gateau of Crab appetizer at Citrico's for me. Unfortunately, they no longer serve it. We used to make trips over to the GF just so I could have this. It was a crabcake like no other. It was more like a souffle of crab. It was the best dish I ever had at WDW. I wish they would bring it back.

I have to agree with you Hatter, that Spicy Kazan roll is magical and it is just as amazing every time. I've gone back for it 3 times now and will have withdrawals in August while Cali Grill is closed. My other winner is the crab-cake at Flying Fish Cafe, it's an appetizer that I've enjoyed twice now and when I go back next trip I'm ordering it as my entree.

The sashimi I had at Cali Grill back in 2011 was awesome. My entree that meal left a bit to be desired, but I could have eaten that sashimi all night. I actually kind of regret trying Yoshie's deluxe platter back in 2012...I mean, it was great and all, but I really enjoyed the simplicity of the sashimi and the subtle plays on flavor enhancement for the respective pieces of fish on the plate.

YUM!!!

I would like to award an honorable mention. Back when the BoG menu came out, the charcuterie plate was the big thing on there with major appeal factor. They changed the name to the "assorted meats" platter so they didn't scare people off, but either way...it did not disappoint. After having the cheese plate at CRT the year prior be a disaster, I was afraid this would be another "sounds good but sitting around too long" disaster. Assuming we can get in for Sept., I'm thinking two appetizers for dinner...start with French onion soup and then this assorted meat super yummy ....

The lemon walnut cake from Tony's Town Square. I'm usually such a chocoholic that I'll order chocolate over anything, but when I saw this I was really intrigued and had to try it. It was so light and the lemon flavor was mild and the walnuts were a little candied. I haven't made it back to Tony's to try it again, but I have the memories.

I was really blown away by the tenderness and "melt in your mouth" taste of my filet mignon w/ risotto @ Le Cellier! I also loved the pretzel bread and the cheese soup! Those were the days when apps were part of the DDP and it wasn't considered "signature". Our server was terrific as well. we had a nice experience there.:)

I would have to say I was extremely surprised with an appy!! (How lame LOL) but the lobster mac and cheese at Le Cellier is the best I have ever had (and I review food ALL the time!!!!!) I could easily make a meal out of this!! Another appy we LOVED was Kiss Before Shrimp at Raglan Road

I'm looking forward to having the corn side dish at Yachtsman. I remember it being really delicious!
Of course, I'd better try a Dole Whip Float a couple more times, just to make sure I still like it! ;)
