The Contemporary

Ok. We've pretty much decided on staying at the Contemporary, but I'm wondering what everyone's got to say about their experiences there. Good Bad & Ugly. I've read a few less than wonderful things and that's why I'm 2nd guessing it. We dont want to pay a lot of money and get there look around and think we could've done better elsewhere. :lookaroun Know what I mean?

Any Contemporary experiences or stories or anything you can offer would be *really* appreciated. We want to make sure we're makin the right choice for us because.. I know we can hotel hop on future trips, but the way *we* are... we find a place we love & that's home. Period. Thanks in advance!!

Reviews were dated

I stayed in the Contempory North Garden wing in Feb. 2003 and found several reviews on some of more popular planning sites to be way off the mark. Big rooms, yes. In disrepair, nope. My daughter and her family were in the next room that we opened into a suite so we had loads of space.

Don't be put off by the reports of how far the wings are from the tower. Maybe if you go out the main entrance of the wing and into the main entrance of the tower but why would you? I did the short cut through the hallways to the end closest the tower. Down the elevator and out. Very short walk to a few steps down and into the food court, Food and Fun Center. Straight shot through the center and you're in the heart of the tower.

Less theming, that depends on what you mean by theming. Think of it as EPCOT before the introduction of the classic characters.

That's a good comparison. I remember Epcot before they brought in the Disney aspects of it. I never saw anything wrong with it and I *was* a kid at the time.

My sister and I stayed at the Contemporary for the first time last May. It was great! We had to add an extra night on to our orginal reservation, because we didn't want to leave.

We stayed in the Tower on the Magic Kingdom side. We were on the sixth floor, right above the Monorail. It was neat. Because our room was right above the monorail, we could feel the monorail pass through the hotel; our room rumbled (not that bad, though.)

We watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our room! COOLEST thing I ever did at Disney!!!!!!!!!!

Great hotel to stay at. Try to get a Tower room (MK-side), it is the best.
