The Comcast/ Time Warner Merger- How will it affect the parks?

If allowed (and it's possible that a merger of this size very well might run afoul of anti-trust acts), what do you think the effects on the parks would be, if any?

Really. You think the parent company of Uni suddenly owning the IPs of things like Looney Tunes and DC is not going to have ANY effect whatsoever?

Actually, Time Warner Cable is the company Comcast bought, and they have no affiliation with Time Warner. They splintered off in '09.
Either way, I expect the effect on the parks will be minimal. Maybe, MAYBE, a slight tightening of the purse strings till this investment sees some returns, and then a little more wiggle room since they'll be more influencial, but... I doubt it.
And that's if the deal even goes through.

Comcast has said the deal will have an immediate impact on cash flow. They expect immediate returns.

As for the parks? Well, it's even more money flowing into the parent company. That's never a bad thing for the parks.
Really. Perhaps I follow the wrong news but I thought Time Warner Cable was finically in rough shape and poor customer standing due to dropping channels such as the weather channel.

I am a Time Warner customer. I am bracing myself for the impact on cable bill. I think Comcast customers will be impacted also. Time Warner offers the weather channel in there second tier package. I think it is direct tv that does not have weather channel.

Thank you for clarifying that. :D

I don't think Comcast is foolish enough to let their cable business impact NBCUniversal. It would be the exact opposite of why they wanted to acquire a major player on the content side of the equation.

I think the parks will be just fine and left alone. I was just informed that my job is being off shored to India. Comcast is outsourcing a ton of people and departments that helped make the business to go India firms like Infosys, cognoscente, TaTa. So American jobs are going away in Comcast. That is why the funding to the parks will not be touched. Comcast was a good Company a few years ago to work for. Now, not so much.

Comcast will massively increase their debt in the deal. Immediately they will look for cost savings to offset it. Slowing down their cash commitment to the parks will absolutely be a consideration. Theme parks are a huge drain on cash flow.

All of that said, I think the parks are safe for now. They clearly have supporters in executive leadership.

Again, letting a cable deal impact NBCUniversal would be a waste of the money spent to acquire NBCUniversal in the first place.
