The Change to Cast Member Name Badges

I noted this year that the Cast Member badges no longer show the hometown of the cast member, is this a post 9/11 thing or just a general policy change?

I used to enjoy checking out the badges, especially the Brits that work at WDW, to see if they came from anywhere near me.

Also, how do the decide what goes in place of the town, I see that Tyler's avatar badge says Fantasia, but why so(in general, not just Tyler)?

no... they changed it for 100 years of Magic, the CM's were given a choice of which magical memory to have on their nametag, out of 100.

the international program CM's still get their hometown.

The location nametags should be back when the celebration is over.

I asked the same question of the CMs when I was there in April. I don't think some of them liked me cause I kept asking whey they liked that certain movie or whatever it was... hee hee :goodnevil

Personally, I usually wear my hometown nametag anyways. Yes, technically, I know I should be wearing my 100YOM tag. However, these are my reasonings.

1.) I have found that most guests prefer the Hometown... because they like to search out and find folks from near where they are.

2.) We were given a pre-determined list to choose from. We were strictly forbidden from choosing our own favorite memory. My personal favorite memory is the Walt Disney World Monorail System. Always has been, always will be. They won't let me put that on my name tag.

3.) The pin broke.
