Hey Everyone!

We will be celebrating my DD's 8th birthday in December in our favorite place on earth this year. We have never been at this time of year, and have never done a birthday here. We are trying to figure out the best place to celebrate. Of course we are going to do MK that day. I think. And we will absolutely get the b-day button. But we can't choose the restaurant to have our birthday meal. We really want it to be memorable and special. She loves eating at the castle and chef mickey's. Which place does b-days the best? She would love the characters to come and sing, and a cake, etc. If anyone knows of a different place too that has characters and does a great job on b-days, please let me know. Or, would doing a breakfast birthday meal be the way to go? Any thoughts?

About 6 or 7 years ago, I had my birthday celebrated at the Contemporary (Chef Mickey's). Me, being so young at that time, I loved the characters there.

I think Chef Mickeys is the best for Characters like Mickey, Minnie et al and the castle is good for the Disney Princesses. Other than not much more I know I'm afraid except i got neither in on my last trip. Gulp!

We have done cindy's for a bday...its nice....but we love chef mickey's , we usually go every year around my oldest daughters bday...and always make a reservation at chef mickeys for her bday...breakfast , or dinner is great..and all the characters get right into the bday celebration song..(its a really cute song they do and all the characters dance and everyone in the place uaually waves their napkins around in the air) ..it really is a fun time.. let them know when you make reservations that its your child bday...they uaually bring out a special bday cupcake...and your child gets a special placemat at your table for their bday as well......yeah can you tell , I love that place...

Thanks for the input. We were leaning towards Chef Mickey's because we too love the place. Do you know if they do a card or anything like that. I had read in one of these threads somewhere that at the castly you could get a card signed by the princesses.

Birthday Celebration

If you let them know at the time of the reservation they'll make a note of it and you'll get a B-DAY card signed by the characters delivered to the table.

One more to consider for a B-DAY celebration might be CRYSTAL PALACE. The waitress brought all 4 of the characters to the table at one time for a big birthday song, a special B-DAY cupcake, and a card signed by POOH, EEYORE TIGGER, and PIGLET! The B-DAY card was signed by the 4 mentioned characters in crayon!!

Our granddaughter loved it to say the least!! :sohappy:

Heck you're only 8 once. I say do both - one for breakfast and one for dinner.

We celebrated our son's 16th birthday all week. He got a button at every park and at every restaurant we said, "we are celebrating his 16th birthday, which was Sunday" (or whatever day). So it wasn't like we were trying to fudge or anything. They were always happy to accomodate.

We also bought him the blinky birthday hat and he loved wearing that. He's such a goober!

Ohana or 1900 park fare!

ditto - Ohana is fantastic and the meals are lots of fun - perfect if you want something special instead of celebrating your b-day with 30 other kids (like at chef mickey's) and not really getting any special recognition.

Adding to that - Cindy's is awsome - but hard to get into and we always feel a little rushed...

1900 Park Fare is great food and fun - but the birthday celebration is kind of slack from what we've found...

overall Ohana has the best family atmosphere (it's not nearly as noisy as Chef Mickey's) and they really do birthdays up! :) They had all the characters get together at once and take a picture with my DH for his birthday... it's one of my all time favorite pics!!!

We're celebrating our mom's 50th Bday at Chef Mickey's! Actually her Bday is in August, but that's the day she'll receive her Cheque to Disneyworld. The real celebration is in October! When you tell you're celebrating a Bday does it have to be on the exact date?
