Ive read where they could possibly open the Cake Bake Shop by mid-November. Wonder if this is possible? A bit of a harsh article, but Tom Bricker speculated about a possibly November opening:

You know what’s taking longer to open given the much smaller footprint it occupies? The stupid corn dog stand. Talk about what the heck!
Yeah that's cray cray! Plus if anyone is annoyed by how or why it's taking so long for just something like that should be someone who wants to just go there so bad or want what they have. To the rest of us is just something brand new and unknown to the Disney World sphere same like Summer House.

It’s not a Disney restaurant. The build out of the space is also not a Disney project. They also won’t be making the cakes at the Boardwalk and had to first build a new commercial bakery off site. It’s small business trying to expand into a completely new area and it has clearly been more than they anticipated.
We found someone who runs their projects slower than Disney 🤣

Grand Floridian vibe is stuffy ?🤔
I don't mind it, but it's got that higher end, "elegant" vibe which doesn't really jive with the fun, casual vibe of Boardwalk. To me the Cake Bake would have made much more sense at Grand Floridian, vs Boardwalk. But what's done is done. At this point just want it to open and be done with.

I do hope down the road we get a moderately priced TS at Boardwalk to replace Big River Grille as the Cake Bake will be three dollar signs or more.

Perhaps one side of the Boardwalk can have elegant family get together dine experiences Trattoria Italian, Ice Cream shop, Boardwalk Deli, meanwhile the other side fun of the Boardwalk, the merchandise store, arcade, performers, Big River replacement as something fun like a diner or some kind of entertained dining.

To me this Cake Shop is perfectly standing right next to the Wedding Venue..

What a grand idea...Getting married and then going to the Cake Bake Shop! What is that famous line from a movie that the most expensive present you have to get your wife is when she tells you she wants nothing for Christmas? Wanted to wear a top hat at my wedding but she said no...'pout'. :)

Though Bwk sorta already does sweets, something like a candy shop with a large taffy pull machine and/or maybe a fudge shop could be fun. Epcot sorta already has something similar in the Germany pavilion, so the Bwk would need to be a bit different.
If they are going to call in known brand, it could be Kilwin's.

If that's too much the same, then maybe another showy food. Epcot's France has a crepe stand. The Bwk could have something else savory and showy. Like maybe a kebab stand, where they grill the kebabs in front of you? It would need to have enough foot traffic though, so ideally the spot would be something that draws people in both the morning and evening.

See, you’re falling into the trap…it’s the BOARDWALK…it’s comfort, almost “state fair” type comfort foods…not brand name, not “frou-frou” salt water taffy with an on site pulling machine in front of guests? PERFECT…making pizza in front of guests? PERFECT…crapes?? NOPE…

Quality Funnel cakes
PERFECT…crapes?? NOPE…
See the way those in the U.S. are led to believe how it's pronounced is if it was spelled like that "crapes" when it is not in the first place. I never understood why it's so hard for they to just say "crepe" the way it is.."

I didn’t pronounce it, I wrote it…but if you want me to just WRITE crape, I will, but they STILL don’t belong served on the boardwalk…lol

I don't care how you spelled it. MickeyLuvr'e mentioned The Bwk could have something else savory and showy.
He's saying its spelled 'crepe'. I don't know why it took him so many words.
I don't care how anyone spells it as a post.

Of all things other country related don't get why is always with France that names of things are changed or modified as if it's too complex for guests to pronounce it, however other countries like Mexico, Norway, Germany is not. I know other people are acustomed to pronounce crepe as crape they might as well change the signs too if they want to change and modify another countries official title of their stuff elsewhere. Epcot is suppose to keep Pain au Chocolat to stay true to the experience. Let's change enchilada but they won't because for that everyone's accustomed to how it's pronounced unedited.

Huh?

I think you're saying is that you don't know beach towns as well as I do. If you did, you'd know Kilwin's is a beach-town staple.
Kilwin's is the kind of chain most Americans have probably visited but not remembered. They aren't frou-frou.

The boardwalk is modeled after a beach bwk; it should offer beachy foods.

The Bwk, BC/YC have a long history of selling saltwater taffy because it is a classic beach-town food, but they only sell it premade in boxes.

Beach-towns tend to be dead in winter; if a business wants to survive in a beach town, they must draw customers during the short summer season.

I have been to a number of beachfront and tourist-town crepe stands. They are very popular, because people love watching crepe makers, AND the smell of warm butter is intoxicating.

The Boardwalk is located just outside Epcot though, so the Boardwalk options can't overlap too much with Epcot's offerings. Many of the foods offered in Epcot are also beach-town foods: Fish and chips, snowcones/kaki gori, caramel popcorn/kettlecorn, fried dough/funnelcakes.

The classic formula for an addictive junk food is salt/sugar/fat/starch. :) It should also be fun to watch it being made and produce an intoxicating smell.

Someone had mentioned a kebab shack. Have you ever had the kebabs by the pool at the Waldorf? So delicious and the bread is so amazingly scrumptious. And, the upgrade to fireworks view with our card really hit the tip of the iceburg for us. And the service there is always so top notch! So awesome!!!

I’ve lived at the Jersey shore for 30+ years and the boardwalk/resort towns I’ve been to don’t have Kilwin’s nor do they have crape CS type establishments…I’m sure it’s a great place…the background of the BW resort is that it’s modeled after the boardwalks of New Jersey, Atlantic City, et.al. I just want that tradition to continue…overpriced cakes crepe(s) & corn dogs don’t fit that vibe…
I just googled Kilwin’s…if it’s the “chain” from Long Island, YES, they would fit right in with the Jersey boardwalk vibe…
