I was talking to the manager of Cooke's a while back, and he mentioned that the difference between Raglan Road and Cooke's FIsh and Chips is that Raglan uses fresh fish and Harp lager in the batter, Cooke's does not use the lager and uses frozen fish. No question that Raglan is superior, but the difference in taste is not as big as perhaps the price would indicate.

Thats interesting.I have a friend who runs a fish & chip shop, and he uses a beer batter also, but not lager, but as you say,if its a decent piece of fish, fresh or frozen, then if its cooked correct,it would be hard to tell which is which.

The ehck with pints, i want a yard!

I got one of those behind my house.

I was not all that impressed with Yorkshire County Fish and the only other place I have eaten the fried fish in WDW was Columbia Harbour House and that was just ok. I prefer making fresh @ home since it is so easy using a batter made with a local ale and since the batter is there I might as well cut up a few thick Vidalia slices and add in some fresh onion rings too.

I will have to try Raglan next time around and put them to the test.

I do not mind Yorkshire County's fish and chips but I have found that Cookes of Dublin and Raglan Road's are the best.

BTW for a real taste of a traditional UK favorite try Sunday's on highway 27 outside of Davenport, probably one of the best pub and fry shops I have ever been to.
