Trip Report "The Best Disney Trip EVER"

Hello, hello everyone!! A warm welcome to everyone reading--I'm so glad you're here!!

WHEN: Tuesday, November 5th - Tuesday, November 12th

WHERE: I think you know us well enough by now!!

WHO: I'm sure you know most of us(don't worry--I'm not going to confuse you all like I did in June;)). In case you don't though, there's me, my nephew J, & my sister E. Besides us usual 3 Musketeers, E's husband/J's dad/my BIL joined us for the fun!! To keep confusion to a minimum for this TR I will refer to him as JSR.
562449274.jpeg

You could also call us "The Red Family". When E asked J what color MB he wanted he said that he wanted red & that we should all get that color so we could be "The Red Family". I know you can't see E's but trust me, her's was red also.

Looking forward to reliving "The Best Disney Trip EVER" with you all!!

Tuesday, November 5th

The plan was to leave E & JSR's at 7:00. I went to work for 5:30 to get a few last minute things done--also so that I could say to my boss that I was only off for 7 days, not 8. He teases me that "vacations are 7 days not 8". After doing some work & him teasing me a bit I was off on my merry way!! I got to their house only to find out that JSR was still packing!!:jawdrop: E was not thrilled in the least. He must have been close to being done though b/c we were only delayed a few minutes.

Then came the next delay. It was Election Day and E & JSR wanted to due their civic duty. I sat in the car with J & we talked Disney while we waited.
IMG_3046.JPEG

And, in typical Pittsburgh fashion, it was raining.
IMG_3048.JPEG

Rush hour traffic + heavy rain = a slow commute to the airport. I don't know what it is with this town but it seems like no one can drive in the rain around here. Trust me, we get more than our fair share of it so you think people would be used to it.
IMG_3050.JPEG

As we were waiting to check our luggage in the woman behind us noticed our luggage tags & said that she was going to Disney also and was staying at Caribbean Beach. She asked if this was our first time going which prompted JSR to throw in a few digs about us & the frequency of our trips. I think he's just jealous ;)
IMG_3051.JPEG

The Southwest agent was slower than molasses but after 10 minutes or so it was our turn.
IMG_3052.JPEG

JSR made fun of me all week b/c of this. I had two suitcases. The small one weighed 20 lbs & this one was 36.5. He kept saying, "How did you manage to bring 56 lbs. of clothes?" As it turned out, due to his last minute packing there were quite a few things that he forgot so I told him at least I didn't have that problem. He also told me not to tell E about what he had forgot b/c he didn't want to hear her say "I told you so".
IMG_3053.JPEG

E went to park the car while the J's & I proceeded to security. But wait, I couldn't go just yet. For whatever reason the Southwest agent left one of the suitcases behind. After unsuccessfully trying to get his attention for about 5 minutes I finally interrupted him & asked him to please put it on the belt. I was getting nervous that it would somehow get forgotten. He looked at me with a surprised look on his face & said he didn't notice it there. Really??

On the "monorail" we go!!

E had told us that they were putting together the gingerbread house. Not much commentary here-the pictures speak for themselves!

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH

We met E at The Enchanted Rose. I was really excited to check it out!!
IMG_3362.JPEG

IMG_3354.JPEG

It was mid-afternoon & it wasn't crowded in the least.
IMG_3355.JPEG

I loved the bar area. It was very warm & inviting.
IMG_3356.JPEG

Notice E's shorter hair.

IMG_3357.JPEG

IMG_3358.JPEG

The trim on the seats was neat & the seats were very comfortable.
IMG_3359.JPEG

I had a glass of pinot grigio & a glass of water. That water went down quick. For whatever reason I was very thirsty.
IMG_3360.JPEG

E had a beer. The TIW savings keep coming!!

After we finished our drinks we walked around to check out the rest of it.
IMG_3363.JPEG

It was much bigger than it looked from the outside.
IMG_3364.JPEG

I thought it was really beautiful.
IMG_3365.JPEG

Imagine having to wash all those glasses!!
IMG_3366.JPEG

I look forward to going back there again!!
IMG_3369.JPEG

We watched the construction for a bit more.
IMG_3367.JPEG

It was really neat to watch!!
IMG_3368.JPEG

Back to MK we go!!
IMG_3372.JPEG

My poor attempt at trying to take artsy photos:oops:

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH

We were hungry but didn't want to get anything too big b/c we had an early dinner reservation. We were going to go to Earl of Sandwich but the concern was that the bread would be too filling & our dinner reservation was in about 2 1/2 hours. BTW--JSR calls it "Duke of Earl". I had mentioned that I really wanted to try The Polite Pig so we went there.
View attachment 427106

View attachment 427107

Cute & fun!!
View attachment 427108

The sauce bar was cool.
View attachment 427109

I really liked the atmosphere here!!
View attachment 427110

Remember what I said about not wanting to eat too much before dinner?? I was going to get 2 sides. Sides are $6 each or 3 for $15. They really know how to get you.
The watermelon salad and brussel sprouts were excellent. The potato salad, not so much.
View attachment 427111

I asked E what was wrong with J. He told her that my food smelled gross. Not quite the brussel sprout fan......
View attachment 427113

View attachment 427112

E split a kid's meal of chicken tenders with J. JSR got a chicken salad wrap.
View attachment 427114

I would definitely make a return trip there. I would like to try some actual BBQ next time!!

Lol love how kids comment on food. 😂

Thanks for the pictures of the enchanted rose. It got a lot of complaints here but it looks very nice

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH

On our way back into MK we stopped for some PP pics.
IMG_4564.JPG

The Move It, Shake It parade/party was wrapping up.
IMG_3382.JPEG

We had a 5:45 reservation. It was 5:00 & we asked if it was possible to be seated early. The CM said that it would be about 20 minutes. 2 minutes later they were calling for us!!
IMG_3384.JPEG

IMG_3385.JPEG

I'm not a huge fan of the bread there. It's way too big & boring if that makes any sense. We started out with an order of Calamari. I had about 2 pieces & that was it for me. It was way too fishy tasting for my liking. E, JSR & J liked it though.
IMG_3387.JPEG

I got the Spaghetti and Mushroom Meatballs. The meatballs were excellent!! I highly recommend them!!
IMG_3388.JPEG

J got a cheese pizza(that he looks super unsure of in the picture!!)
IMG_3389.JPEG

E got Tony's Pizza Pie. She said it was really good but too big for one person. She only had half of it.
IMG_3390.JPEG

JSR had the Ravioli. He said it was good. I may try that next time!!
IMG_3391.JPEG

And the savings keep adding up!!

:hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: I didn't think about that until you said that. Who knew gingerbread could be that dangerous??

Yep--& J doesn't hold back. That's for sure!!

You're welcome!! I really enjoyed it there. I was thinking it might feel a bit "stuffy" but it was the exact opposite. It was classy & elegant yet it felt very relaxed & "homey".
Building that gingerbread house looks like it would be so fun!!

Maybe J isn't into the stroller anymore. Maybe it's one less thing E will need to pack. No "snark" meant.
I'm sure it is. I had so much fun watching them!!

Darn--that will mean we will have to hold our own Starbucks if we don't have the stroller anymore!!
Actually, it's funny you brought that up b/c she was on the fence about bringing it but since it was a week long trip she figured she should. She's already said she's going to miss not having a stroller b/c of the drink & bag storage. I will admit that I have to agree with her. Notice how none of us are concerned about J!!🤣

When we left Tony's it was getting dark & we were all ready to head back to POR.
IMG_3394.JPEG

But...we had an important stop to make first!!
IMG_3396.JPEG

IMG_3397.JPEG

E got her favorite, the peanut butter cookie.
IMG_3398.JPEG

And I got mine, the s'mores square!!
IMG_3399.JPEG

IMG_3400.JPEG

I thought everything looked very pretty all lit up.
IMG_3402.JPEG

IMG_3403.JPEG

We left MK at 6:15 & a bus pulled in at 6:23!!

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH

E went to get J ready for bed then she was going to meet me at The River Roost. I went back to my room to freshen up then I headed out. I stopped for a drink at Muddy Rivers(no TIW discount there).
IMG_3406.JPEG

Then I went to the lobby & swapped out my fuel rod. For once it worked!! And I was quite happy that they took away the $3 swap charge that they had planned on implementing.
IMG_3407.JPEG

Cabernet for me. Can you believe The River Roost does not have pinot grigio?? Originally, I had wanted to get that Purple Haze that I had here the last time. Unfortunately, their draft system was down. I wasn't having much luck that evening with the beverages. Well, red wine is supposed to be good for you though, right?
IMG_3409.JPEG

Let the show begin!!
IMG_3410.JPEG

IMG_3411.JPEG

Our server, Patrick, was awesome. Super attentive & such a nice guy.
IMG_3412.JPEG

At this point we had the TIW card for a little over 24 hours & our savings was at $51.62!!

The binder that Bob has propped up on the floor makes me laugh every time!!
IMG_3413.JPEG

IMG_3414.JPEG

E & I stayed until the end of his first show. I was glad that E could. Normally, she heads back to her room early b/c of J. I was happy for her that she got to enjoy more than she's been able to for awhile!
IMG_3418.JPEG

I don't know what got into me b/c I'm not normally hungry that late but I went to the food court to bring back something to my room. As you can see I was still craving the Purple Haze. I ate the cheeseburger & I was full. I put the perishables in the refrigerator & pitched the fries. Then it was time to take some notes & go to bed.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH

E & I headed out at 6 for our walk. Somehow I managed to not take a single picture of Riverside. What is wrong with me? I'm guessing I didn't b/c it was dark.
But it was light in the lobby of French Quarter!!
IMG_3421.JPEG

On our way back to Riverside we saw this couple who was doing a wedding photo shoot. At this point it was 6:40. E & I were trying to figure out what time they had to get up to get ready for it!!
IMG_3423.JPEG

I could see why someone would want to take their wedding pictures there. It's that pretty!!
IMG_3425.JPEG

We parted ways with plans to meet at The Riverside Mill.
IMG_3426.PNG

@Matt and Kelly mousekeeping put out another lotion & soap the day before!!
IMG_3427.JPEG

I had a blueberry muffin & an iced coffee for breakfast. I ate by myself b/c I couldn't find everyone else. That food court can be a real zoo so when I saw a free seat I took it!!
IMG_3429.JPEG

Since the South Depot is right there that's where we went to catch the bus. We got there at 8:56.
IMG_3430.JPEG

And at 9:03!!
IMG_3431.JPEG

J & I assumed our normal positions.
IMG_3432.JPEG

Then the bus got super crowded b/c the driver went to the East Depot then headed to AK. The South Depot is always the last stop so I didn't quite get what he was doing. Besides, he blew by the West & North before he stopped at the East. It was very bizarre!!

AK definitely had a ton more decorations that they have in years past. They were very nice. Unfortunately though the tree wasn't up yet.
IMG_3435.JPEG

The popcorn bucket was present!! And all E did was complain about it. "It's in the way-It's too big-We don't need this anyway-I end up having to keep track of it along with everything else".
IMG_3437.JPEG

IMG_3438.JPEG

E may not have been smiling but at least the sun was!!

We headed to Asia for our first FP.
IMG_3448.JPEG

IMG_3449.JPEG

I stayed with J while E & JSR rode.
IMG_3450.JPEG

J & I looked around the gift shop for a little bit. He tried talking me into buying him a stuffed animal. I said no. I told him he had to ride Everest first & once he did he could have one.
IMG_3451.JPEG

See what he thought of that!!
IMG_3452.JPEG

We went outside to watch the ride.
IMG_3453.JPEG

IMG_4567.JPG

He managed to talk his parents(dad, really) into getting him one. He chose the snow leopard.
IMG_3454.JPEG

He named him Fago. We asked him where he came up with that name & he didn't have an answer.
IMG_3455.JPEG

I thanked them for their lack of support after I had already told him no!!

As a mother, I 100 percent agree with you that J’s parents should have backed up your telling him no. When my sister watches my daughter for me, she gets to set the rules and I back her up. Some thing with the nanny when we had one - occasionally I’d come home to have lunch with them but always told my daughter that if the nanny said no for something then my answer would be the same.

I do not think it is the material you are handling but the tools that may be used and where they are being used that could be a concern
Class E hard hat, green patch safety shoes (reinforced toe and sole of boot)and safety glasses are mandatory in our plant no matter what you are constructing.
For example I notice an elevated work platform (cherry picker or genie boom) with two workers raised up above others.
If they were holding a tool or sharp object and dropped it you would want all workers protected.
Also the hard hats help if you bump your head into something

Just my 2 cents

Here's a great tip(at least for the Starbucks cold drinks) so you don't have to use those lousy paper straws. Ask for the lid they use for the nitro drinks--works like a charm!! And I can't take credit for this--it was E's idea!!
