The Bend over machine

Disney World introduced a new attraction several years ago that is affectionatly known as the bend over machine. It's found near most major attractions and is a computer device that spits out pieces of paper when you insert a park ticket....

Ok..it's really the Fast Pass machines. I don't know if the designers wanted us to get exercise or had another motive, but they didn't put anything on those things to catch the Fast Pass. Once you insert your ticket the Fast Pass will 47.87% of the time hit the ground before you can get to it.

Another little gremlin about those machines is that you must insert your card correctly , which is normally upside down. They should have been made to read the card no matter how it's inserted..

Uh yeah....

You can actually put your ticket in however you want and it works.

Also, the little plastic tray bit means it never flies out and often times you have to help it out in fact.

Jeez. What an absurd topic.

I have had a FP fly away once. Since then, I just keep my hand over the slot at the bottom of the dispenser.

But, yeah, a weird topic.:hammer:

Sounds to me like the OP has never even seen a FastPass machine before...
Yeah thats what I think. Because they do have a tray to catch the FP, and I have never had one fall out. Not to mention the fact that you can put your ticket is any way you want and it will work.

Whuh? I know exactly what the OP is talking about...

I don't know how many times I've had a FP fall to the ground. I always keep my hand over it now and half the time it falls right into my hands and would fall to the ground if my hand wasn't there.

I'm not sure what he's talking about the direction you put the card in though.

But yes...there have been many times that the little plastic tray would not have caught the FP if my hand wasn't there.

Now I think everyone responding to this post is being too judgemental. You never know, the poster may weigh 700 pounds and not be able to see the slot at the bottom of the fast pass machine and at 700 pounds bending over would really be a bit of a stretch. Just because someones concerns are not yours, is no reason to deride their post. This is a kind and gentle place to post.

.... do you think they bought it? I know just a bunch of "bs", but you can't be critical all the time the moderators get angry. Yeah, I know it ranks in the top 10 most senseless posts, but what the hey, if that is their biggest complaint about the parks I think they will survive.

When I read the title of the thread, I thought it was about one of those contraptions I saw in the Museum of Se x in New York City...

I thought it was for the constant increase in ticket prices that happened a few years ago.

Hmmm... look at the OP's sig. An ad along with a website? Trolling??? :fork: :fork: :fork:

Wow...these forums have been seriously harsh lately.

The OP just posted something about the FP machines and automatically he's a troll...

Real friendly around these parts I see.

(Yes, the "giveaway" in the sig is a no-no...but that's not for "US" to handle...that's for Steve to handle)

I didn't say he was a troll for what he posted, just what's in his sig. I haven't had problems with the FP machines, but that doesn't mean some people do. I know, I have no control over the sig, but wanted to point it out, makes me question the motive of the post.

I've had the FPs fly out before...although you would have to have turtle reflexes to not be able to get your hand from where you were inserting the card to where it comes out...and even so, that's what most of us have two hands for. Now I'll feel REALLY bad if the OP only has one hand...

I wasn't meaning to single you out...I've seen it happen in more than a few threads as of late. This use to be a fun, friendly place to come...if I were coming to the site for the first time...I'd never post. I was more talking about the people above your post making a mockery of the OP for starting such a thread. Yes, I agree with the sig...it should be removed...as it does not follow Steve's forum rules.

Back to the thread at hand though...sorry for the veering off topic sames1.

Imagine someone with a Brazilian tour group trying to get Fastpasses for the entire group...if a swift wind comes at the wrong time...they'd be playing 52-pickup

I hear you about the 'fun, friendly' comment. The negativity and biting comments by some have driven many once-good posters away.

Oh man... I would hope that those large groups would divide up FP acquisition, especially on those windy days! The largest number of FP's I've ever gotten (I'm usually the FP Runner when we go) was 12, and even that wasn't a problem, mainly because I have a system to getting them. Insert park pass, remove park pass, grab FP, repeat. I have it down to a science now. :)

I must admit, I sometimes have help - if my (now) 5 yr old comes along, he likes grabbing the FP's as they get spit out. Then I only have to deal with the park passes.

Which makes me think.... unless you have an inordinate number of FP's in the little covered box, you shouldn't have too many problems getting them. I'd like to hear more about the OP's experience with FP's falling or dropping or whatever, because it seems that his experience is definitely the exception, not the rule. Just curious as to what prompted the OP.
