I think this is going to be a great addition to the Studios. It's not something that will greatly appeal to me, but I can see it appealing to a heck of a lot of visitors. It will certainly add some new life to a very dead feeling corner of the Studios.

If nothing else, it will suck up some people and get them out of the queues for Mania, Tower and RnR!

My sentiments exactly. Despite not particularly caring for the concept, the show building itself looks like it will really pick up that area of the studios. I will honestly be interested though to see how many people are willing to forefeit a good portion of their day for the experience. I almost see this becoming a "destination" in itself ("we're going to go do the American Idol thing today"), rather than just an attraction to do whilst at the studios.

Yep agreed. I dont think people are going to have any problem giving up a big chunk of time for this. So many people are currently complaining that the Studios is a half day park anyway (I dont personally agree with this), so having a time intensive attraction is a good thing.

The concept art of the exterior looks great, so at the very least, we are getting a good looking piece of eye candy on that corner.

Snazzy logo. This may not be my kettle of fish, but it's better than a shuttered building.

True... and it's a great place to store all those spring-break cheerleader groups at DHS! :sohappy:

"OMG Loyanayisha! There's the American Idol Experience! Let's go make total fools of ourselves! ROFL!"

At least they'll be contained...

Agreed. I may drop in once, but I'm not a big Idol fan. Rarely watch it. However, there are a huge amount of folks that love the show. This attraction will be a big draw for the park and it will move a lot of people off the streets and out of other queues.

Besides that, the concept art looks great and this will be a very nice addition to the look of the park. Even if it gets replaced in a couple of years, toss up a new sign/logo and you have a ready made building for a new show.

I don't know how DHS could want anything more than what they're getting here: A new attraction unique to the park, beautiful concept artwork that promises elaborate and complimenting theming, an announcement to 40+ million people at one time - If we aren't seeing the breathing of new life we've all been wanting (between this and all the other new and rumored additions), then I don't know what more we can expect.

It's a Meh for me.Good that DHS is getting some attention...but I wish it was a little more classic than some pop culture TV show.

Like I've said before, this is really just an updated replacement for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" (and "Lets Make a Deal" long before that). Just in a different building.

If you look at it that way--- as a C-Ticket, audience-participation, air conditioned game show-- its hard to be disappointed.

Then, if you factor in that the vacant ABC Theater was, in theory, replaced by the amazing Toy Story Midway Mania, the overall theme park experience is SO much better than it was only one year ago.

(I imagine that if AI had been put in the old "Millionaire" building and TSMM was put in the old ABC Theater, there would be even less eye-rolling about AI because it would seem more like an "update" than a "new attraction")

I think its great the something is going in DHS. ANything is better then an empty building. I like attractions that will be different everytime. I this will be the case. I don't know if I would want to see the opening rounds, but I would love to watch the finals at the end of the day.

Isn't this just an elaborate karaoke show? Its only redeeming factor is that some really awful "auditions" might be amusing. More than likely you'll have an irritating host asking for round after round of applause for performances that are barely tolerable... ugh.

Thats what I was thinking as well..To me I think its going to be a big waste of time. If your the best one for that day you have basically wasted a whole day that you had to pay for (or someone else pay for) for you to sing in front of people...and even what are some of the prizes you can win.

I am wondering if the distaste for this attraction would be as pronounced if it didn't have the AI branding on it, as opposed to some sort of Mickey Mouse Club branding or something like that.

As far as taking time out of your day for participants, won't it be similar to the Fear Factor show at Universal Studios? It doesn't seem too far-fetched to think people will want to participate and go to this show to me. I am also wondering if they will use "planted" cast members (like the Indy Stunt Show) to boost the entertainment value of the show.
