It all started when the little fuzzball was born - Scar. Scar made a master plan with the hyenas. He tricked SImba into waiting in the canyon then on his command the Hyenas that were ready spooked the wildebeests making them stampede toward Simba. Zazu makes a comment, then Mufasa says strange and Scar comes and says Simba is in the canyon and needs saving. So Simba barely escapes with help from dad. Then when Mufasa tries to get out Scar grips his claws and whispers into Mufasasa's Ear "long live the king" and afterwards Scar lets Mufasa go into Stampede letting him either die of falling(unlikely) or trampled to death(what where let to believe).
