Hello and welcome to my 3-day, eat all you can, birthday pre trip report! I'm turning 25 in April and this was my birthday gift from my husband! We just got back from our 16-day wedding and Disneymoon in December and we're heading back! Hold on to your seats! This is gonna be a quick, wild ride!
Introductions:
The cast for this trip is my husband and me! For those of you who don't know, my name is Tracy. I live in North Carolina with my husband Coda and our two tiny dogs. The picture below is from a couple days after our wedding and is particularly amusing because we are standing in front of the Mayan calendar holding wedding ears showing the date of the Mayan doomsday.
But Why???
Why are we driving down from North Carolina for such a short trip in the middle of the school year, you ask? Because of the Disney Food Blog Snack Attack Illuminations Dessert Party! Did you really think I would pass up a chance at a once yearly dessert party? Come on now!
The Plan:
Saturday, April 6th
We're driving down at midnight on Saturday! Yep, midnight! Coda decided that if we're only going to be there for 3 days, we might as well tough it out and get there early to get the full day in. We should arrive at about 9am, maybe a bit earlier depending on pit stops! We are checking into the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista (hopefully early) for the first night. We only had enough DVC points after our honeymoon for two nights, so we had to find a different place to stay for the first night on property. After parking our car at the hotel, we'll be heading over to Animal Kingdom for most of the afternoon where we'll make sure to get a cotton-top tamarin cupcake! We'll head back to the hotel and rest for a few hours before dinner. We have reservations at Raglan Road with my cousin, her husband, and their three kids! Mmmmm! Ghirardelli for dessert? Perhaps!
Sunday, April 7th
On our second day we'll be meeting my cousin and her family again for Magic Kingdom rope drop! Lunch will be at Be Our Guest, and we have dinner reservations (at 9:30! ) at 'Ohana! We've never been, so we figured we could make a late dinner work. After dinner, we might head back to MK for EMH til 1am, but who knows.
Monday, April 8th
The last day is going to be the best! We'll start with Hollywood Studios in the morning with breakfast at Starring Rolls. We might be able to get to Beaches & Cream on the way over to Epcot in the afternoon. We have an early dinner reservation at Biergarten, and then the dessert party begins at 8:30! There will be desserts from throughout the Disney Parks and resorts for an all-you-can-eat dessert buffet while we watch Illuminations! So much win!
Tuesday, April 9th
We'll be driving out early in the morning since Coda has to get back to work and I have to get back to school. Before we hit the road, we're having breakfast at Olivia's!
In Conclusion
Obviously, the main focus of this trip is food! Has anyone had breakfast at Old Key West? Better yet, has anyone stayed at OKW? Because we've never been there, but it was the only resort available that we could "afford" with our points. I'm so excited! Less than a month to go!!! And maybe I'll get some special birthday desserts as well!
