Pre-Trip That's it! I did it!

Well, I did it. I booked our flights yesterday. No turning back now!

We had a long 8 day family vaca planned (and booked) at the Poly the end of July. Our trip was overlapping part of my aunt & uncle's trip as well, we had group dining reservations, the works. That trip was kind of a disaster from the beginning. Had to change dates once, then the whole Poly construction, decided to change resorts, etc. Then after ALL THAT we decided that it didn't look like my hubby would get to go anyway. So, as of this weekend, trip cancelled

But for what did I book flights you ask?? After finding out all this depressing information, my DS and I (who is 11) decided to take a mommy & Bubby trip only! We haven't had much alone time since his brother was born. We started discussing where we might want to go (WDW wasn't looking promising since we would only have about 4 days) and we decided: we wanted to go to Walt's park!

At the age of about 2, Brett fell in love with the Disneyland Fun video we had. Watched that thing nearly to death. And then wanted to know why things were different when we took him to WDW the next year. He has since been blessed with 6 trips to the World, but we have always talked about going to the Land. And we are going!

We are flying out of St. Louis on Thursday afternoon/evening July 3rd. Pretty cool that after a 4 hour flight we will arrive at LAX only just shy of two hours later! Lol. Currently we have 4 nights booked at the Fairfield Inn on Harbour Blvd. I will say (especially after the fiasco that is the Claremont Kissimmee last summer) I do not do "economy" hotels. And some hotels surrounding Disneyland look rather sketchy. Good Neighbor or not. Marriott I am familiar with though. I am keeping my eyes out for Disneyland discounts though. My dream would be the Disneyland Hotel, but even Paradise Pier would be good! We fly back early evening on Monday July 7.

My hubby will be off for a 3 day weekend (for the 4th) and the grandmas will be splitting the little man the other 2 days we are gone. It will be so weird being without my little dude, but I know we will have a blast at what will possibly be our only trip to Disneyland!

Only like 58 days now! I am so used to planning Disney trips 6+ months in advance, this one will sneak up on me!

Great that you planned it so short before really going to WDW again :) Just 58 days (by monday) for us it's 161 days waitingtime :)

That's great you will be able to make it to California to visit Disneyland and California Adventure. Those are my home parks and love them as much as WDW parks. Radiator Springs is very cool and the kids love the ride. Let us know what you think the major differances between the parks in California and Florida. Can't wait to hear about your trip.

Waiting time is kind of a love/hate relationship. It really adds a lot of fun anticipation, but it stinks to wait! And then you have all these months of build up, and it's over in a few days :(

I have wanted to go for years. But with Epcot having always been my favorite park, I couldn't imagine going to Disney without Epcot. Last summer though I fell extra more in love with Magic Kingdom and now I'm ok with not having Epcot for one trip. I'm interested to see the difference. I've done a little bit of research (just to make sure we don't miss anything important) but I do want to be surprised. One thing I've noticed is the amount of attractions they have piled into only two parks! Tons!

I officially have things BOOKED! Disneyland Resort Express is booked, a couple of dining reservations, a bus tour of Hollywood, everything. Yes. I am taking a Disney day to take a 9 hour LA/Hollywood/Beverly Hills bus tour. I had to. I've never been there so I had to. We will still have 2 full and 2 half park days, and I booked the tour on the 4th, which I figured would definitely be the most crowded and most likely to not get much accomplished.

Also, my cousin is graduating high school (tonight actually). And for a graduation gift, my aunt and uncle are sending her with us! So now the duo has become a trio! And a few weeks after we get back, she is going with her family to WDW! (on the trip I was originally supposed to be going on). Lucky. She's the one who needs to write a TR!

Two weeks to go! I am trying to finalize plans and such as much as I can. Started "pre-packing" yesterday. Going through my list, seeing what I have, what I need, what needs to be replaces, etc. My son has asthma and allergies (including and extreme anaphylactic shock nut allergy) so packing and planning for him presents, not so much a challenge, but I have to make sure I pack anything he may need. So in goes the Benadryl, inhaler, allergy creams, Epi-Pens, etc. So much to my pup's dismay, out came the bags and in went the stuff.

At some point we changed our flights from afternoon to early Thursday AM, so as to have more time that day since we are skipping Disney on Friday to do the Hollywood tour. I also happened to just keep checking the rates at hotels (hoping for a Disney discount, but to no avail :() and rebooked the Fairfield for $149/nt. in a high floor Disney themed, resort view room. I had a standard room booked for $179/nt.! I think I just happened to catch a cheaper day, because it has been back to $179 ever since. Yay for sale catching!

I also have booked the Blue Bayou for lunch (not so much interested in the food as the atmosphere) and brunch @ Goofy's Kitchen. I am a kid at heart, and love character meals. Plus, anywhere with Mickey waffles is A-Ok in my book! (And besides, how can you go wrong with a restaurant managed by one of the fab five?!) Exactly. I have many people who disagree with me, my own family included, but Chef Mickey's is one of my favorite places in the world. So Goofy's was a must! Other than those 2, no other dining is planned. Except I plan on eating fruit tarts for breakfast if I can find them!

Well, that's about all the planning I suppose. Still debating on changing our 9:20am flight to a 6:30am and staying the night before. St. Louis is our closest airport, and it's about 2 hours away, so leaving that AM would be a little crazy lol. Leaving at 5:30 to make our 9:20 flight is also a little crazy! Until then, I will be planning our Disney World Christmas trip!!!

See ya real soon, Disneyland!
