Good to know, thanks for the info. We will be celebrating our grandson's 6th birthday at Whispering Canyon Cafe in August. I have heard that you can order a 'generic' cake at the restaurant itself, but I have no idea if the cake can be somewhat personalized with the birthday boy's name, and Happy Birthday. If not, 'Baby Cakes' could be an option for us.

Yep,there's a photo of a cake with 13 on it,so to put a name on with icing should be no problem.

In fact, it's my 35th birthday today! :D

But...

babycakes is a gluten-free, dairy-free, allergy-friendly vegan bakery with locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Orlando.
While I appreciate that people have food allergies, I kind want my cake with wheat and dairy.

While I am

a) Kind of critical about food

and

b) one of the lucky ones with no allergies at all and can eat just about anything any time of the day with no problems

I can say I have tried Babycakes products and they are suprisingly good (not like the cake made with applesauce and carob my mother tried to feed us as kids). I have no idea how they do it, but somehow they do.

Just a heads up...while BabyCakes is a nice option, you can also go through private dining at a number of the deluxe hotels to have a custom fancy cake made for you. i.e. GF bakery, Contemporary Bakery, etc. They deliver to the various resorts, the resort restaurants, and a number of the in park restaurants. These cakes can be as generic or as fancy as your imagination can take it...i.e. these are not the basic pre-made pre-frozen cakes you can order at check in. You also have a number of flavors and fillings to choose from.

I saw a pp note WCC and I'm pretty sure the Contemporary Bakery can service this location. They made the cake in my avatar and we'll be having another one done for us on our next trip. I sent the chef my sketch and color preferences. As for flavor, I went for a red velvet cake with passion fruit mousse filling. We had it for breakfast at Chef Mickey's :slurp: I also designed my friend's daughter sweet 16 cake...the GF Bakery covered it and had it delivered to their dinner at 'Ohana. Theirs was a lemon cake w/buttercream. Soooooo lots of options :)

This is a great option for those with food allergies. I never had them in my life, but my 7 month old has had sensitivities to dairy since she was born, so I had to give it up as well or it was pass from me to her during feedings. It was so hard for me to find foods I could eat! I was shocked at how many things had dairy in them. Luckily, she's growing out of the sensitivities so I've been able to eat more again. But man, would I have liked to find a dairy free dessert the last few months!
