That last day feeling

Hey all. Just got back from WDW yesterday after an amazing 10 day trip (I'll start posting the trip report soon, once I'm done uploading the pictures). However, if there is one thing I hate about trips to Disney it is that "last day feeling". I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels it. It's kind of a combination of sadness (that this is the last time you'll look at everything you are looking at for the current trip and; that after a year of planning the trip that we were so looking forward to just weeks ago is now over), stress (that we only have one day left and want to see as much as possible) and uncertainty (when will our next trip be? We normally come each year but what if something happens within the next year that may delay our next trip).

What are your last day feelings?

The last day for me is always "what did I need to buy before I leave????" I get sad but start the countdown for the next trip, which is usually a few months away. I usually go for 7-8 days and it seems that the first 3-4 days is always great and going nice and slow, then by day 5 I start to say to myself, the trip is almost over... Kinda sad really...

80 days till my next trippppppppp. yeeeeaaaaaaa!

The last day for me is "oh god, i have to be in the real world tomorrow."

The last WDW trip was especially bad, because we were staying off-property, and almost every channel on the hotel TV was broadcasting about the Casey Anthony trial. :| I don't think there is anything quite so disheartening as to go from hearing cast members wishing you a "Magical Disney Day!" to hearing a news report about
"the smell of chloroform and human decomposition in the trunk of the car".

There's no two ways about it....the real world just plain sucks.

I think if Disney ever decided to turn EPCOT into Walt's actual living Community of Tomorrow, I would live there in a heartbeat. Far away from the chaos and degradation of the real world.

I've been to WDW when they first discoverd caylee anthony was missing, the gulf oil spill, and also the Casey Anthony trial I usually block it out while in the parks though

My last-day emotions have ranged from tears to "OMG, I can't wait to get home." Aside from the tension that comes with air travel, I've learned to manage those bad feelings pretty well. Going home on a Friday or Saturday helps. That way you have a day or two to decompress before you go back to work. Planning your next trip helps too. If you can manage to book a bounceback before you leave, getting back on DME feels a whole lot better. ;)

Last day is usually the perfect feeling of wanting to get back and sense of happiness with the whole experience. I have been to Disney for 2-day trips and always felt so mad about having to leave. I have been there for 10-day trips and couldn't wait to get home. I think each person has to find their perfect balance of the 2 feelings. For me it's the 5-6 day range. Just enough but makes me want to come back for more!

We're the same; we typically go for 8 days 7 nights and always wish we would have went for more days. The first half of the trip goes slow (which is great) but the last half flies by. The last day becomes a reality and we are all sad that we are heading back to reality. We go to WDW once a year and it seems like forever before the next trip comes along.

As posted before; we would love to live at Epcot. When we're at Disney we only watch the Disney or resort channels on the TV - we could care less on what is happening in the real world.

I can't tell you how many times we think of giving it all up and moving to Orlando and trying to get on at WDW. We're sure others think the same and that its incredible hard to get a job at Disney. I have some me coworkers tell me that WDW is we're I need to be employed - I'm one of those people that love to make sure others are happy and having a good time. Maybe one day - fingers crossed.

The last day I visit MK. I pretty much am thinking... this is the last time I ride this, this is the last time I see the castle, this is the last time I have a dole whip, the last time I hear this park music and on and on and on. :( I'm thinking, come on brain, imprint these images real good so when I get home I can just shut my eyes and think myself back to the park. The only good thing about the last day is I know that in a short while, the instant I walk through my door, my dogs will rush over and begin kissng me and letting me know how much I've been missed.:)

last day feelings are awful. I dread them so much, I find myself getting them long before that last day comes. We leave in 4 short days to go to WDW and I am not even happy....I'm sad because it will be over in a flash and I don't know when I'm going back. :(

I feel all the same feelings on the last day as you guys listed. We always do magic kingdom on our first and last days. When we are leaving the park the last thing I do is stand in front of the statue of Roy and Minnie and just look down the street. I try to freeze the image in my mind so I have it to call up when I think of the trip after we're home. When I feel I've got the image burned into my mind I close my eyes and turn towards the exit. I open them and don't look at anything except the exit. I look back once I'm far enough out the turnstiles so I can see the whole entrance plaza, and I just say quietly "thank you, see you real soon."

When we first get to the hotel, we see people with their bags checking out. I call it the walk of shame. It has a different connotation elsewhere though. Anywho, I'm like,,,"glad its not me". Then on the last day, its me. So of course its a little downer. I also try to avoid the monorail on the last day so I don't have to hear the part of the spiel that goes, "if this concludes your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.....". Not cool. I get over it by the fact I know I will be back....like so many others have posted.

Six Flags? I don't think you need to convince anyone on here that Six Flags is always a noticeable step down from a Disney park. But anyway................

I try to soak everything up on my last day and I always end it by taking the ferry back to the parking lot. There is something peaceful about taking the ferry back with barely anyone on it looking back at the Magic Kingdom. Peaceful...........and a little sad when you think of it.

I have that feeling creeping in the back of my head from day one. I hate it. I just wish I could stay forever. But I'm able to keep the feelings at bay by keeping busy on rides and such. One thing I tend to avoid is doing downtown Disney shopping on my last day. That just really reminds me I'm leaving soon. So I do all my shopping at the start of the trip. No matter what though, no matter how manly you are, leaving those gates on your last day is a really hard thing to do.

The last day is always a depressing feeling especially when you turn back and look at Cinderella Castle one last time. It's even more so for me since I only get to go once every five years whereas most people on here go every year or so.

However when I do go, it is usually for three weeks so I usually can't wait to get home and sleep in my own bed and be away from the heat, crowds, constant queueing and expensive food and shopping and spending time with friends and family and telling them how awesome it was :)

Oh man that feeling, of looking at Main St. one last time, going for my morning coffee at the coffee shop for the last time and it's funny how quiet we all are on the car ride back to the airport. I just try to think I'm going home to my fur babies but yeah that last day is so sad.

Must admit,I dont mind them at all.I think we are lucky to have spent 14 day's & nights in the most magical place on earth, some of my friends just dream about going and end up staying at home. That said we usually go downtown for that last little souvineer and something to eat and blow a kiss in the air, just incase Tinks watching.:)

I did not get the last day blues. In all honesty I could not wait to go home. I woke up sick on my last day. I got a sinus infection and it was so hot my body was shutting down. I actually ended up sitting in Pecos Bills for an hour and drank three waters to stay cool and hydrated.
