Wouldnt that actually be considered 80s? That is when they started "fighting"...and it lasted ALMOST 20 years until one of them "lost" (sega)

Mnaah, the 80's were marked by Coleco Vs. Atari, or Amiga Vs. Commodore.
In the 90's Nintendo came out with the NINTENDO which fought head to head with sega's MegaDrive. Then the awesome Super Nintendo came later, maybe in 1994 (I don't remember the exact year, but I do remember I bought the year Hurricane Andrews stroke Miami) and Sega came out with the Saturn system.

Hmm..actually...

Nintendo came out with the Famicon (which was the original NES) back in the 80s..and the sega Master system (or SMS) was its main competition..and thus starting the war...granted in the earlier 80s was the Atari, vectrex, Calecovision, Amiga (which was more like a computer than a game system), and a handfull of others which never went anywhere. (wow..my age is REALLY showing now)

In the mid 90s..nintendo release the SNES (or super famicom) which was a major hit..until sega released its Megadrive (or Genesis) shortly after....with failure accesories such as the Sega CD and the 32X..which really hurt the company more than it helped. All the while Sony was developing the "playstation" for Nintendo...but when Nintendo screwed that deal up, sony went into the game market for themselves. Nintendo in a cheap attempt to compete, signed a deal with SGI instead and made the lackluster N64. The Sega Saturn was released to compete with the N64..and it quickly failed..which was the begining of the end for Sega...shortly after that...Dreamcast (which in my opinion is one of the most underrated game systems ever) plagued them with poor sales due to very bad marketing.

oy...talk about thread drift...LoL

Yeah, you are totally right. The thing 10 years ago importation wasn't like nowadays and wether japanese or North American, thing came a bit later to South America. That's why I always relate the NES and SNES to the 90's. It's just a internal thing in the lower side of this continent.
