Thanksgiving Trip Report

I got back sunday night from a 4 day trip and this is my review of Disney while i was there. My fam ( 18 in total) and i left early thursday morning and i had to come back late sunday night because of college.

Hotel:
We stayed at the disney boardwalk inn and it was a wounderful place. it was right up there with the highest disney standards. Pool was oook, water slide was fun. The rooms were plenty big and the maid we had every day was the most pleasant person i had ever met. always did her best and left us little notes. we got breakfast roomservice one morn to save time and it was for 4 people. Now my fam is a big eater, especially me, but the meal def fed more than 4 HUNGRY people. we passed it to me grandparents and then to my aunts room. great food.

The big pros

was the service, boat was 5 seconds from epcot and we got in the back entrance (never knew one existed) where there was little crowds. Very clean and well kept up with.

Neutral

We have spent over 20,000 in just rooms for this fam trip, we asked for a room by the pool since we have more than a few little ones ( teller said it was doable), when we got there we were quite possibly the furthest from the kids pool as possible, they couldnt do any thing to help us.....We had the same problem at the Polynisian but they were more than happy to move us closer the next day.

Cons

Besides epcot, going to any of the other parks was a hit or miss. MGM was a bit of a ride with the boat since we made 3 stops along the way to get there but still easy and the boats came one after the other. MK was the easiest busses came alot. AK some times took 1/2 hour to get to.
The worst was we tried to go to down town disney more than once, i went with my dad and bro when i was there then when i left they went again. BOTH TIMES WAITING FOR THE BUS WAS A 50 MIN+ wait, when i was there it took about an hour, and its not like we got up to walk and missed a bus, we sat infront for a solid 50 minets and by that time the crowd waiting for it was so large not every one could get on. of course we asked each driver that came and went for other places and they all said one will be here shortly. One other thing i noticed was there was no real nice place to get a counter service witht he meal plan. the only place that had hot dogs, chicken tenders was a stand that took cash only. Restaraunts were a little to fancy to get a meal with the fam.

DONT get me wrong i loved the hotel but we are def going back to the poly next time

I would recomend this hotel to ANYONE but for the type of vacationer i am it wasnt a match.

PARKS

Well i have herd horror stories about this holiday week but im 20 and this was my 12th time to disney. The crowds were very heavy at time but we were able to manipulate our plans around them and we had no problem walking on to every ride at one time or another. We went early, stayed late no problem at all. One night we walked on to splash mt, thunder mt, haunted mansion, buzz lightyear, and pirates.....under 2 hours. That mite of been friday after turkey day night i think. We did EE in AK 4 times in a half hour another night. But during the day we saw line 100+ minuets on many e ticket attractions but we just went back and swam or rested.

Still kept up with all over. up to "disney standards"

pros:
pirates ride was done over awsome. the last time i was there it was under refurb. i loved it so much better and the Auto anamatronics seemed very life like. a+++++

neutral

Haunted mansion was ok. the sound and scenes were better i noticed alot of new things and some, where i was disapointed was the piano playing by itself you could still hear the click and hiss of the pneumatic soliniods, and the flying globe with the sorceror in it was a good touch but you can clearly see the strings holding it up with out even trying to look for them

cons

The yeti in EE was in "b" mode the whole time i was there, it just strobed and he never moved really so i guess that never got fixed.

I was so ready to ride the new spaceship earth bc it was suppost to open just 10 or so days before i got there but sadly it wasnt ready when i was there

MISC

All the little things were fine. the magical express was very reliable and our luggage magically apeared in out rooms just like they said.

meal plans are getting screwy over there and i know they are re-doing the meal plan thing but we had problems gettign things we wanted. For instance my grandpa wanted a steak one night at a restaraunt but we were informed that would require 2 sit down services on our plan...I got prime rib another night and it only cost one sit dow. no logic

Over all it was a great vaca. I did the things i wanted and had a great time. Weather was great. I only wish they played more of the disney background music in the parks rather than mostly christmas but o well. Cant wait to go back as soon as i can.. Im hoping for this spring break.

Thanks again Disney

Hi Tractorm! Glad your vacation was good! Can I make a few suggestions?

we asked for a room by the pool since we have more than a few little ones ( teller said it was doable), when we got there we were quite possibly the furthest from the kids pool as possible, they couldnt do any thing to help us
It sucks that you weren't able to have rooms by the kids pool. I've been on vacation with my boyfriends family, and his three siblings have SIX kids under the age of 6 all together- I know how important those pool views are. However, I'm pretty sure when you call Disney to make a room request, it's just that. A request. And, of course, since you sound like such a big party I'm sure they didn't want to split you guys up, and would have stuck you all with pool views if they had the space. It's unfortunate that happened, but it looks like it didn't stop you guys from enjoying that nice, warm Florida sun!:sohappy:

MK was the easiest busses came alot.
I'm curious as to why you guys didn't pile into the monorail from Epcot? I was at WDW last week and found the monorail the best way to combat those holiday crowds.

One other thing i noticed was there was no real nice place to get a counter service witht he meal plan. the only place that had hot dogs, chicken tenders was a stand that took cash only. Restaraunts were a little to fancy to get a meal with the fam.
While nice counter service may be few and far between at MK, the other parks have decent options. Right off the top of my head, there is a counter service eatery right next to Yak & Yeti (Is this part of Y&Y; does anyone know?) that served great eggrolls and Asian meals in cute little Chinese take-out containers. I doubly recommend it for next time!

For instance my grandpa wanted a steak one night at a restaraunt but we were informed that would require 2 sit down services on our plan...I got prime rib another night and it only cost one sit dow. no logic
Yeah, t he meal plan keeps diminishing more and more every day, which is why I go mostly in September for FREE dining!
Otherwise, I think the restaurant itself is what determines the points off the meal plan, and its so nice that the servers go out of their way to tell us- imagine getting the check and THEN realizing.

Over all it was a great vaca.
:sohappy:

I wanted to add a few things that now im back to my normal college life i remebered.

now i dont mean to be rude to those of you who do use them but we had a significant problem with people driving the electric scooters/wheelchairs in the parks. i know its a grey area. i love them, im in a class as an engineer that work on assitive technologies and we have done work with scooters improoving them. we have close to 20 patents. but we cant controll the drivers. we have no less than 3 hit people in my family, my aunt got her ankle sprung badly with a collision and the ladies response was (id say mid 40's serverly obese), "dear you need to get out of the way, we are handicapped and have the right away" my uncle almost took a swing. she spent the rest of vaca hopping around

but dont forget i know many people love them and are very good at driving them. if i had some thing wrong and i had to be mobile its the way to go!

now i want to thank the fastpass line cast memebers. we had very little trouble getting a large group in with some "missing" fastpasses:lookaroun. more or less we would get fastpasses and then meet up withmore people and just not have enough and tell the people we lost them and they let us right in. now i know they dont have to so i didnt expect them to but it was nice.

still think it was a great trip but it might b a while before we head back only because we are getting to the point wher we have seen and done most of the things and need time until our disney fire gets stoked.

thanks again disney
