Thanksgiving Ideas

I won't bore you with the details, but this year we (DW, DD1 (20), DD2 (15), me) are going to WDW during the week of Thanksgiving. (We usually go the first full week of December.) We'll be staying at the Beach Club.

Questions: How bad are the crowds on Thanksgiving Day? Do they lighten up as the day goes on and the locals head home for dinner? Any suggestions for where to have Thanksgiving dinner at the parks or the resorts? Other suggestions for something "different" to avoid the crowds? (We're toying with the idea of a tour, but haven't decided.)

Thanks for your input!

Hello and Happy Travels to you!

Disney on Thanksgiving...I say eat at Liberty Tree Tavern!

I have done the keys to the kingdom tour and it was fantastic but, I don't think your 15 year old is of age to go.

Well, if you haven't made reservations by now it may be tough at most of the good locations.

Most every restaurant in WDW offer traditional Thanksgiving fare on T-day, so no matter where you eat you will be able to have your turkey dinner.

Crowds will be on the increase all week. It will be a 10 by Wednesday and continue through Saturday. I personally think the worst day for the crowds is Black Friday. We have spent many Thanksgivings @ WDW and I would expect insane crowds, but usually every ride and show is open. You will probably see Sounds Dangerous open, Diamond Horseshoe & Tortuga Tavern serving food.

It is a fun time to be there, but go in with the right mind set. It will be crowded so use FP's and get to the parks at rope drop.

I will be there for Thanksgiving this year too, as it has become sort of a family ritual for me over the last 6 or so years. The crowds are definitely fairly large, but being good with FPs is always key anyway. Liberty Tree Tavern is great for Thankasgiving, but this year I think we're eating at The Plaza. Last year we tried mixing it up and had dinner at Paradiso on Thanksgiving which was nice but a little unconventional
