Not sure if anyone has posted this.. Just got back from my 10 day trip at WDW and just a few days ago they finally put a new canopy on the supports outside test track...

BTW... EVEREST IS HUGE!..and stitch is weak in my opinion.. Although I got 3 annual passholder preview pins ! :)

that would explain it.....I was there a few weeks ago and when riding the monorail I saw a new piece of Test Track track laying buy the overfill bus lot....

A friend of mine told me this a few days ago! It looked weird without it and I'm sure being outside at greeter was a pain as well! :sohappy:

What exaclty is the canopy's purpose?? Is it so that the ride can operate in the rain??
No, considering a large part of the external track is uncovered. I think it's just a decorative flourish - perhaps conceived as a provider of respite from the harsh Floridian sun. Though I admit it gives the pavilion a certain, "too-industrial" feel that detracts from the simple beauty of the former WOM pavilion. But that's just me... :)

The canopy itself has been replaced, but the murals that flank the sides have not been put back up as of yet.

So....yeah. No direct sunlight...er...since they switched the lines to shove more people inside the queue.

BTW...thread drift...

Lights of Winter is coming along nicely!!! Just wish they didn't put up all those walls to keep everyone away from the supports. (What a bottleneck! )

...and of course, the water in the surrounding pools alongside Futureworld West are still empty.

*Mmmmmm! Gets another whiff of that great 'dead-fish' fungus smell!*

...and while I'm at it!!!.... They re-configured the Soarin' fiasco on the bottom floor of The Land. Now, the exit hallway that used to take you towards the behind-the-scenes tours to the greenhouses goes straight through the heart of what was the Food-Rocks queue. I'll see if I can find a pic from yesterday to show ya (hard to explain).

No.. the ride goes out back as well, remember? Also, the canopy doesn't even cover the track in the front, so... yeah. But, the canopy serves a huge purpose! With the disappearance of "pavillions" in epcot, when it rains, like it does just about every day of the Spring and Summer in FL, there's not really many places to go. Innoventions? Yeah.. but that's a ways to walk when there's a sudden downpour. You used to be able to go in anywhere and have a family friendly, indoor ride. Test track isn't too family friend, nor is it entirely indoors. Mission Space, next door, well.. let's just say it's not for everyone. I dont know if I'm making a whole lot of sense here, but looking under the canopy during a downpoar, you'd understand where I'm coming from completely. Also.. from what I hear, it was pretty rough for the greeter to stand out in the harsh sun w/o any shade for that amt of time.

by the way I'm srrry if this is a thread drift but I really think TT needs a major rehab the cars need a paint job and all the of screens need replaced, the thermal image room wasn't working and it might just be my imagination but i think the cars are slower than they used to be anyone else care to comment? :lookaroun

The cars do need a paint job, and some things like the screens need fixed. However, the cars go the same speed they always did.

The cars get a total redo every year. Paint/body/decals/everything... Hopefully someday we'll see the return of the screens. And no, the cars always go the same speed.
