If you have done Via Napoli before, I would go for Teppan Edo. It is a really neat experience, good food, combined with an element of show. Teppan Edo is expensive however.

i always hate boring people with LLLOOONNNGGG diatribes but i guess in some cases its needed. We have never been to either and were on the dining plan

I've eaten at both. I enjoyed the "show" of Teppan Edo but the food was just the same as any Japanese steakhouse I've had anywhere.

The pizza though - some of the best I've ever eaten. Service was so-so. But I'm really looking forward to another Via Napoli ADR in September.

I have eaten at both. Given the choice I would go with Via Napoli.

Teppan Edo is your basic Temppanyaki (Hibachi)style restaurant that is very expensive and lacks most peoples favorite part of the meal, fried rice. If you have your heart set on this type of dining much better options can be found off property where both the price and quality are better. In particular, Kobe, located just behind the Crossroads, is where we go when we are in Disney and have a hankering for Temppanyaki.

Via Napoli is a great addition that is somewhat unique. While you can get pizza anywhere, the type of pizza at Via Napoli is quite different from what you will find at most places. It is a traditional, sauce-less, brick oven cooked, pizza with a unique dough. While I am sure you can find something similar elsewhere, it will not be on every corner like the food at Teppan Edo is.

I'd agree with that. I've been to Via Napoli twice (and have another ADR there for January). Both times the pizza was delicious, service not terrible but not great. I've never been to Teppan Edo, but I can say if you go to Via Napoli I don't think you will be disappointed.

Do you prefer Italian or Japanese?

Either way, Teppan Edo is way better than Via Napoli. Our waiter in March even told us that it wasn't a good Italian restaurant because the food was all Americanized.

Teppan Edo is good - but it's the same basic Japanese steakhouse food you can find anywhere.

I'd personally go with Via Napoli - I love pizza.
personally i was disappointed by teppan edo. Food was so so and the "show" was not bad but in line with something I might find in Omaha or Nashville. I have not eaten at via napoli but am looking forward to my September 18th adr. Honestly if my options were napoli and teppan, my second choice would be hunger ;-)

I liked Via Napoli much better than Teppan Edo. Teppan Edo was good, but it was really no different than any other Japanese hibachi grill I've been to. The pizza a Via napoli was excellent, and it's not something I can get close to home. We also enjoyed the waiters (we had great service!) and watching the open kitchen. I could have spent all night watching them make the pizzas and do the line cooking (then again, I'm addicted to cooking shows so others may not find that nearly as entertaining). :)

Put down an other vote for Via Napoli

Having eaten at both, it really is not a hard choice for me.

I found Teppan Edo to be sub-par Teppan style dining (both show and food were below what I am used to) however the price was very much in line with most Teppan dining (i.e high)

Via Napoli had some good food and decent prices. Is it first rate authentic Italian - not at all. But it is good and correctly priced (for WDW). Teppan Edo is not first rate authentic Japanese either, but it is, to me, not that good, and over priced (even at WDW price points)

My husband said the steak @ Tepan Edo was the best he'd tasted- tender and well seasoned. It is a dining experience, and it is expensive! The green tea is yummy! The kids loved the teryaki chicken "dippers". I didn't care for it though.:( If you like the atmosphere of a Japanese Steakhouse, you'll love it! If you love pizza, then Via Napoli is for you! Both are very good choices!:D

I personally prefer Via Napoli. The restaurant was a great addition to WS. I just wish they could make the same pizza available by the slice to go.

Teppan Edo can be either a hit or miss. The last 2 times we were there we had what I would call a "chef in training". Not very good show. Uneven distribution of food. Mistakenly throwing shrimp tails at the other table. Now the first time we went there we had a great chef and he put on a great show and did an all around superb job!

I would not get Teppan Edo only because there are a few Hibachi-style steak houses near where I live, and I would like to have something different in WDW. That being said, I can also have good Italian food at home too, but I do love Via Napoli's pizza and dessert. & When I'm traveling with extended family, pizza is something that pleases everyone. I don't think Teppan Edo is anything worthwhile though, I mean its good, but its nothing you couldn't get at any other Japanese steakhouse.
