Tell Me Why You Hate Spring

Great topic Yellow Shoes !! I'm so sick of people looking at me like I have 3 heads because I dont care for their precious Spring and Summer. What can I say, give me 10 degrees and a foot of snow any day. And I work outside. My main reason for the topic at hand however is simple.....heat. Philly can get just as bad as Florida. I sure do enjoy dripping with sweat, stinking, gasping for air on those 95+ and high humidity days.

Gee--nobody has mentioned

TAXES

We did get a federal refund, but we always owe Kansas tax, despite having the lawful maximum withheld. There is nothing screwier on earth than the Kansas tax code.

However--we had property tax and license fees due on both cars plus an insurance payment. Bye-bye tax refund.

"longer days" don't make up for that hour of sleep. The days will get longer whether or not you mess with the clock. Daylight Savings Time only shifts the hours of daylight from the morning to the evening.

And, how many of you remember the "joy" of arguing with a 4 year old.
"It's bedtime."
"But the sun is still shining."
"I don't care--it's 8:30."
"But the sun is still shining."
(...silently cursing DST)

I still can't sleep if the sun is shining. (unless I'm sick).
I hate having that arguement with my kids.
I hate spring allergies. My little one is home sick because they are so bad... antibiotics, nebulizer treatments, antihistamines...the works. :(

I'm tellin' ya--I've got a ton here.

How about

Lent

I don't really look forward to 6 weeks of self-denial and repentence.

Lent - Ahh, my good old Catholic days. The nuns told you that you were going to hell if you ate meat on Fridays.
I am just Christian now.

The Pope's decree of not eating meat on Fridays only came about because back in the Middle Ages the fishermen in Italy were complaining that no one was eating fish. So the Pope decreed that during Lent, no meat would be eaten on Fridays.

It wasn't all that long ago that no meat could be eaten on Friday, ever. (did it change with Vatican II, I don't remember). Until the day my grandmother died (in the 1980s) she refused to eat meat on Friday.

What's spring? Spring doesn't exist in Florida....we have Summer and Winter here only.

That being said the pollen is really making my nose and eyes go crazy lately, the tempature rises a little more each day towards the scorching full on summer heat waves, and its time to rake the @#$%# leaves again!

Yuck to spring.

Ah, pollen. You know it's bad when you open the curtains in the mornings and see a green haze blowing in the air. It's been said that when the pollen count gets to 100 (parts per ?) then it's bad....we've had counts in the 500s regularly with one day last month well into the 1000s.

I also dislike the necessity of checking the weather before I get dressed in the morning.

The big question of spring?
Will it be 85 degrees or will it be 45 degrees?

Here in Kansas, it has been 45 on Monday and 85 on Tuesday.

Did I mention that April showers mean muddy floors??
