Hi everyone! I have to admit I am disappointed with Disney. I posted about our family staying at the ASMO and during our visit the Fantasia pool will be closed. I was thinking the other day and first of all we have a perferred room, I dont want to be walking out of the hotel every day looking at an empty pool being worked on. I called again and asked if that would be the case, and she said more then likely yes. My point is....I paid the extra money for the perferred room, and when I booked I didnt know this was going to be going on. Dont you think they should do something about this? I asked how much more it would be to move up to a moderate resort, and it was like $350.00 more. I dont know what to do.

Just talked to the hotel again. After putting me on hold and checking again, he did verify the pool is going to be closed, but said the Sports pool is right there and we can use it. I'm not going to be too concerned about where we swim - as long as my kids enjoy the trip, that's all that matters!! It's their 1st time and I want them to have a great time!! :D

I really didnt plan on swimming too much at our pool, but this is our first "real" vacation. The first time my hubby and 4 year old and 1 year old will be at WDW, I just want a perfect vacation for them.

the themes are more kid like at Movies but POP has a much better kid water area...more water features to play in, nice size kid pool etc. and it still has disney theme w/lady & tramp etc. I'd ask them to get you in at POP pref. room at the rate you had at Movies. I don't think that is asking too much as they are all values and with kids being close to the pool and not having to hike the kids to another pool.

I have decided to just stay at the ASMO. I requsted the Toy STory building (my 4 year old loves Toy STory). I looked at the map and noticed that the pool that will be closed, more then likely from those building we wont be able to see the empty pool anyway. I hope I am not going to regret this.:brick: :brick:

I would think as with all construction, that nobody will be looking at an empty pool, they will have a barrier constructed to block the work. It's not as nice as a view of a pool, but....you have made the decision to stay, telling me the themeing of the hotel is more important than the actual pool anyway.

I guess that your right that the theming is more important then the pool. Like I said we really didnt have plans on going to the pool to much, but I just dont want to be in an over crowded pool when we do go swimming. I was just concerned like I said before, I didnt want to be looking at a empty pool being worked on all week long. Another thing I am a little scared about is that my one year old is a VERY light sleeper. At home we have to tip toe when she is sleeping. I hope that if we are close to the pool it wont be noisy, while they are working on it. (I mean when she is taking a nap). I am sure they wont do it at night. I guess I am just thinking there is going to be a ton of workers with big machines and things. lol I dont know what to expect. :hammer: :hammer:

There are two pools as ASMovies.

If you don't mind being a little further from the busstop, then just call and ask them to move you closer to the Mighty Duck pool. No biggie.

If you want to be near the pool AND near the buses, you should think about changing to a different AS resort.

Personally I don't like POP. It isn't Disney themed and that drives me nuts. What the heck do play-doh, and walkmans have to do with Disney? Just my personal opinion though, I know lots of people like it.

I'd rather be closer to the bus stops, because I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. I am not taking a stroller with us, so I dont want to be walking all the way to the bus stop. The way it looks though the Toy Story building looks close to the bus stop. Hopefull all works out in the end. We were going to switch to a moderate, but with one finacial problem after another since we planned this trip it is not possiable.

You should be ok then. Toy Story isn't too far from the buses. (It is VERY far from the other pool, but if you don't go to the pool that often, it shouldn't be a big deal to walk down there a couple times.) We're going in 6 days and staying at AS Movies. We don't care too much about the pool either but we really want to be close to the buses so we requested the 8700 building of Fantasia.

I think you made a good choice! I hope your trip is wonderful!

Maybe that is what I should do. If someone call tell what exactly what building to request. Near the bus stop, and away from the construction. Toy Story is a perferred location? That is what we paid for.

ok here we go. here's a map of the resort:

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h24/jesslanipix/allstarmovie.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

This might help.

Toy Story is down near the bottom and not too awful far from the buses which are to the right and in the middle in front of the front desk area.

Fantasia is in the middle which is near the pool that will be closed during your stay. It is the closest area to the buses. As you can see though there are many sides to the fantasia area. if you wanted to be closer to the other pool and closer tot he bus area, you could always ask them if you could be in Fantasia but not face the Fantasia pool. That would cut down on any possible noise as well as having to look at Construction.

The other pool is the Mighty Ducks pool which is way at the top at the opposite end of the complex from your room. Now if you don't mind walking that far to get to it then that's all good. But if you'd like to be closer to the Mighty Ducks pool as well as closer to the buses you could ask for Fantasia in a room that does not face the Fantasia Pool.

You could stay at the Mighty Ducks building. That is real close to the Music bus stop and obviously the Mighty Ducks pool. It's the best of both worlds. The walk to the bus at Music from Mighty Ducks is about half the distance of walking all the way to the Movies bus.

I just wanted everyone to know that I did call Disney lastnight. I talked to a CM who happened to stay at one of the value resorts not to long ago while the pool was under construction. She told me that it will be pretty much all boarded up while they are doing it. She put it a request for me to have a room not facing the pool, and she also put in my reservation that my one year old is a light sleeper. She was very, very helpful.:D

Ugh... I always have avoided the values because I worry about noise... One year...when the rates at the moderates were at an all time low... lots of the 'groups" (teams, cheerleadeers) of kids with few chaperones were stayign at the Coronado and the noise as awful... my little ones and I were awakened 2 or 3 times a night...we had to move to another side of the resort to get away from all the noise in the wee hours... (They refunded our 2 nights of hell)

Hmmmmm personally I have never had a problem with the noise at the value resorts......But, you can always call ahead and ask them if they are expecting any cheerleading camps. That's also one of the good things about going near the beginning of the school year. Most school groups haven't even been together long enough yet to go on a trip for a competition or anything.

That sucks about your stay at Coronado. I'm glad they gave you a refund though.
