Tell me about Dinsey Quest??

I am wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade our tickets to Water Park and More to go to Disney Quest (a few times) or to just pay while there to visit once (to add to our tickets its approx. $300 for our family or approx. $250 to pay while on site for one visit) or is it a skip. My DH and all the children really enjoy video games - is it just a large arcade? Or are there some unique things about it that are a "must do." Thanks

This is coming from a life long gamer... DQ it the largest waste of space on the planet. The headlining games in DQ have the graphics capability of a Wii on a 19" tube TV, and I wish I was exaggerating. While they do have a decent of classic arcade games, nearly every one is at some level of broke. Buttons don't work, screes have dropped colors, joy sticks are dead, etc.

If Disney gutted the building and installed nothing buy Xboxes and PS3s it would be a near decade technological leap forward.

If I had free tickets I would still find something better to do.

We really enjoy it but it is included in our UK ultimate tickets and probably mostly for nostalgia reasons, it's worth going if it doesn't cost you any extra one evening but don't spend money and or a day to go there it just isn't worth it.

Sadly @Master Yoda is pretty spot on. For us, it was definitely a one and done years ago and we really only went because it was included in our package that year. Honestly, the shops offered at DTD are worth more of your time and money than Disney Quest.

In fact, they are giving free tickets now. We got them in our package (Magic Your Way Plus Dining).

Do they still have the bumper cars where you pickup balls to load into a cannon?

Yes, but if you have kids it ties with Cyber Space Mountain for the highest height restriction (51") for an attraction in WDW.

It seems to be losing magic bi-annually.

I still might visit our next time, but we used to visit every second day during our vacations. Taking away the sweet genie elevator show was the nail in the coffin for us.

I wouldn't pay separately for it at this point, but we used to always get the waterpark option as we love the waterparks.

I definitely would not pay money for it. But since it is free and my wife has never been...we might visit for an hour or more. But it certainly needs to be either taken out or massively overhauled.

For once I do not agree with @Master Yoda, I love DisneyQuest, it is a nice break from the parks and mayhem, I love the old classic games section, as well as the Nascar game. Its a great thing to do on a rainy day as well. While I would never pay for a one time entry of $40, it is definitely worth doing if your family loves video games...even if it is just a chance to take a break for yourself and let them run around playing games while you sit down for a while. My opinion is that you should experience everything once and develop your own opinion, and I have never heard any complaints from any kids about it before, and that's who you would really be doing it for anyways.

If you're going to do it, I would add the water parks and more option to your tickets as it is close to the same price (just a little more) and you get so much more than just one time at Disney Quest. We went to DQ for the first time a week and a half ago and it is just 4 floors of video games. There are some old ones and the air hockey was a lot of fun, but it really is just an arcade. We did ride the astroblaster (mentioned above) which was cool, but that's the only "ride" we did. We spent 2 hours in there and we were done. We didn't want to waste any more of our time wondering around. I definitely wouldn't pay the $40 fee to get it! We only went because you get 2 free tickets in you MYW packet. With the Water Park and more option, you get the number of credits for the number of park days you have (5 days = 5 WPFM credits). You could go to the water park, do Disney Quest, play mini-golf, etc.

I don't think I've been in there for nearly ten years. A decade or so ago, my son loved that place and would have happily spent the bulk of his vacation in there, if he'd been allowed to do that. He even wanted to work there when he was an adult, lol.

I keep reading how it has gone downhill, though.

I would not say that it has gone down hill, it just has not updated. 10 years in video game time would be 7-8 generations in human years.

I have seen people that like Disney Quest.....they are 6-10 year old boys. In all honesty what everyone is saying is very true, if you don't go to it you won't miss much. Lots of arcade games mixed in with a few rides. While some rides are okay I don't think you would be kicking yourself if you missed them or DQ in general

Thanks Master Yoda - this is most helpful. As DH is a life long gamer as well I would hate to get him excited about something for nothing.

Thanks for the info about the package - we have only rented DVC points in the past and this is our first time on a package. Talked with DH and he may use the passes to check it out - but it will definitely not be a priority stop. Thanks to all those that replied.

Disney Quest was included in our regular MYW Package, so no need to upgrade. I agree its badly dated, but if you like video games its a fun few hours.

I love Disneyquest considering how it brings back so many pleasant memories of playing the arcade games for long periods of time as a kid but I do agree some new games would be nice! Maybe it is time to start adding in PS3, XBox or even the Wii to Disneyquest and not just relegate it to Innoventions at Epcot. Gosh, I want to play a game of the latest FIFA so badly but I don't have the money and/or the proper video game system to do it! Overall, you definitely don't need to spend an entire day but if you have a few hours of spare time, go for it.
