I like big A movie scenes on a castle. Fireworks are nothing special,. In fact in two weeks the entire country will be having a bunch of shows that generally blow wishes out the water. For free

Absolutely been there, (although it was 22 years ago,a) againeveryone's life experience will be different.
I grew up in NYC, sorry but imo our 4th of July fireworks beat anything Disney has offered, 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. Ok maybe not illuminations but it would be a close call.
I also was in Paris for Y2K and woohza, most people agree that they were probably The Best on the planet . The ones over the Eiffel tower were mind boggling.

This is just me and again , not a slight against Disney. I liked wishes but I also like HEA. Although I did like the music from wishes better.

Also I'm not anti-Ip like many here are. I do think the minute folks see a character they hate something. So truthfully it's a no win situation.

No matter how good the replacement for illuminations is, it's going to get trashed here because it's going to have characters

Art is subjective. What's funny is that op claims technology is killing creativity but technology gave us wishes and 4th of July. Those brilliant fireworks are programmed and choreographed using technology.

I do not hate IP - - I hate the way WDW has chosen to use it.
With HEA - - it honestly feels like a bunch of tacked on clips from Disney movies. No real cohesive story and tie in. It feels cheap and tacky to me.
If they used the IP characters to tell a story then perhaps I would feel different - - - The music is also a big hit for me.
Every WDW up to this point, when we first saw it we were blown away, it almost had us forget about the previous show. It was plussed .
Yes technology has given us a lot of great things - - I don't want top speak for the OP here but I think they felt like the projection technology was not really utilized creatively. Just scene after scene. Not so much the technology in general, maybe I am wrong.

Either way WDW is about emotion and connections to our lives - - wishes had it for us - - HEA misses the mark completely, and we saw it for the first time with our 10 month old son on his first WDW day. Emotions were high all days for all of us.

Wait...wasn't Wishes just an "IP Fest" with a theme song...just like HEA is? I don't totally understand the hate that I see for HEA. There is a whole 12 seconds of Frozen, and plenty of under-represented animated movies all show up. Isn't that what is complained about too?
People asked for the Frozen stuff to be toned down...Done. People wanted Hunchback, and Hercules, and Princess and the Frog, and Mulan to be represented...Done. We hate it..........

To me HEA is a bunch of Disney stuff thrown together with little regard to any kind of story line, or any attempt to evoke real emotion.
