Hey guys, we were the only ones without anything started, I just wanted to get our ball rolling, what with placing the req.s here and what not.

It seems we will be recreating the magic kingdom as we see fit; each land has certain requirements, and special projects.

for each land:
Quick Service Restaurant
2 Shops
2 Meet and Greets
1 Re-imagined attraction

Our re-imagined attraction:The carousel of progress

Something they added, but I'm not sure what it means:
********************************************************
Here’s the first twist. Instead of telling you what to complete per land – attractions, restaurants, etc - we are giving you one solid number of each. Your park will have no more of the following:

35 attractions
8 shows
4 table service restaurants

It’s up to your team to decide where you want to put these portions of your theme park. Choose carefully, you will want to make sure that you distribute the numbers evenly
**********************************************************
They describe MSUSA as it is now. however, they do not mention whether it can be changed or tweaked in any way. I've always wanted a main street in favor of the society that produced the first DL: the 1950's. It's the main street that comes to mind for a lot of people, and I figure it would be a great homage to the society that led to the rise of that era, and later to the world we'd have.

however, i do agree that the MS currently exhibited does portray the promise of a new age, and they've described. I do agree its a perfect choice as well, however, with the carousel, I feel something will change it.
maybe even a progressive MS, with changing times as you move along (much like liberty sq to fronteirland in WDW?)

We also have a secret project:
All you have to do is design a mega-store (think Emporium) to go along with your other two shops. This mega-store will take up no less than three facades on your Main Street. In addition, this shop may not sell merchandise that can be purchased in the other two shops.

Lastly, the rules of the game:
No time limit
No real design rules (that they've said)
They will reveal info for us as we go along, so we will know how to work on each land respectively
when our respectively lands are finished, each will go to the thread to be posted
there will be a final posting of all of it together, to showcase our entire park

Let's start our car a goin'; we need to storm!

All that really means is that IN TOTAL in ALL of your lands your park can have NO MORE than 35 attractions, 8 shows, and 4TS restaurants.. SO You have to evenly distribute the items, SO you cant use them all, then get to the final project adn have nothing to do... Hope that helps!

So lets see if we have six lands, then we need to have at least six attractions in each land except for one. So in main street we have the Train Station(that counts right?), the CoP as you guys said to my best knowledge, and just to clarify something. We have to use all of the attractions in the park or we can make up our own?

I love our team name!

A couple of quick notes for the morning and then I'll check back in after work:

- 50's is awesome
- A diner was the first thing that came to mind for food as well
- For a store, what about one themed after an old fashined drug store?

I don't see the diner working if we aren't allowed to copy a restaurant but make it original. If we did a 50's diner wouldn't people have a prime time their because it's a disney restaurant. :lookaroun

Anyone catching my drift...

I get what you're saying, but my thinking is:

50's Prime Time = Mom's kitchen

50's Diner = Actual diner

O ok I see what you mean, yes that could work. It would work much better the the 50's Prime now because I hate it there, it's not healthy to cram all that food into your body, especially restaurant food like that. Also I had actual stomach problems the years we went there so I have bad memories from there.

Thanks, I like the 50s idea alright, but here is what I originally put in the other groups thread:

Since Carousel of Progress is going to be added to this version of Main Street USA, I was thinking of possibly going with a World's Fair theme for the street. Pick one of the big World's Fair years in the US and try to give the street that kind of feel.

To get Carousel of Progress to work a little bit better in this theme, I think we could go two ways. The first is to retrograde the attraction, and show more history from the past of whatever year we begin with, my second idea is to go with a somewhat cheesy look at the future from an earlier year. Start the first year or two with some of the real bits of progress made up until that point, but start to get more and more outlandish about what the future holds.

I don't know if this works in anyway or would be a good way to expand upon an idea, but that's what I initially came up with.

Good ideas! Um, for the CoP, I don't know about the show scenes, but I can definitely handle the ride systems, tracks, and stuff.

Yeah, I'm not still completely sure on CoP scenes myself. Do you think a marriage of a 50s small town getting a World's Fair could work? I think it may, but I'm not sure.

Would the soda fountain be the or the diner be the quick service?

Could you please reword you sentence about the scene, it confused me, sorry.

Ok, my two ideas were at least in the first case based on the idea that the street would be placed a little further in the past than the 50s, I was just saying if we did a turn of the century street, then use more advancements from the past and begin a lot earlier than where the current CoP begins now. With a 50s street, this idea doesn't really matter anymore and something like the current CoP, with a possibly a few tweaks should fit in perfectly.

The second idea had more to do with just having a lot of fun with the concept. Start out on the ride much as it is now, but start going further and further in the future with the last few scenes, to show some of the really funny ideas of what people in the 50s thought that the future would look like.

Okay, I see what you mean. I don't know, I think the CoP we have now, but with a better last scene. That's all. And, Oh, little updates to.
