Team Mist: SYWTBAI Season 14, Project Two Open Brainstorming

Building off of the wild mouse idea briefly, and looking at those three things I mentioned last night, what if there was a way for guests to choose what track the ride follows? Like, if you shoot the right target, you get sent down a different track? If that would be AT ALL doable. I know that the judges are being a bit lenient in terms of realism, but we can only take it so far before we get too far into the realm of fiction.

I've also been trying to think of a few other ideas on and off throughout the day. Take a look at this. It's called a cloud coaster and is this relatively new concept that's been floating around, and I'm kind of thinking that it would be perfect, should we decide to not go with the wild mouse. These are basically 2-3 story complexes with a ropes course in the center, with the actual cloud coaster surrounding. The nature of both attractions would make it incredibly easy to transport. There are a ton of places that we could take this concept. It's something that isn't really present into carnivals so far, but would absolutely fit in perfectly with a modern carnival setting.

Past that, I still have nothing. I think that we'd make a lot of headway simply by trying to update and further concepts already present in carnivals and theme parks.
The cloud coaster sounds like an awesome idea

So I just watched a video of the Cloud Coaster. It leaves much to be desired, to say the least. However, I think that there i limitless potential for it in terms of what the project is asking us to do. We could absolutely take this, tweak it, and bring it to the next level.

Right now, I think that it's a slight bit too zipliney. What I'm thinking, should we go with this, is that we keep the track system, reinforce it, and change the actual chair, basically. Keep the canvas seat, but make most of the structure metal. Change it so the chairs aren't held on by carabiners, and rather actually attached to the wheels (detachable for transport, of course.) Allow the chairs to swing from side to side, but not from front to back, as they currently do, allowing for slightly more extreme turns, while keeping the chairs from losing speed. Perhaps we could find a way to up the capacity from one per vehicle to two? I'm also partway inclined to try to find a way to have inversions, but I don't think that it'd be wise.

Also, now that I'm thinking about it. How could we have a lift hill if we take away the chair's ability to swing backwards and forward? The cars would fall sideways, like, immediately. Perhaps I'm overcomplicating things.

Thoughts on this awful word vomit?

Honestly I'm not sure how the judges would feel about us doing two coasters for the project, but if they're both different enough it should be ok. So long as we can make this Cloud Coaster feel sufficiently carnival-esque. The danger factor could be high for the concept, which for a project like this is what you want, so maybe it could be stylized after the type of coasters that were built back in the early 1900s, before safety regulations were really a thing, but of course our coaster would be completely safe. ;)

Ok, so we have one definite ride (the wild mouse) and two maybe rides (log flume and cloud coaster). I'd really like to have the brainstorming done and the projects assigned by the end of tonight, if we can. I'll have to sign off again tonight around 10:30 EST so if we're not finished by then would you all be able to decide among yourselves who will do what?

If we're doing the wild mouse, I would gladly take the helm for that.

Aside from that, I think we should decide between the cloud coaster and the log flume. I'd also say that the other rides should be flat rides. Everything we've suggested so far have been pretty big ideas.

I can tackle a flat ride on my own if needed. It's a sort of freefall spinner that sends guests spinning into the air via contained translucent tubes. I actually just came up with the concept a moment ago lol. What do you guys think?

Edit: Think of it as a combination of Tower of Terror and Mad Tea Party. I'll have a visual for everyone by tonight.

I second @JokersWild taking the wild mouse coaster if people are ok with it. I would vote to keep the log flume since we're already doing a coaster as the centerpiece, and I agree that the rest should be flat ride variations. :) That may make it easier for us in the long run.

@Basketbuddy101 feel free to go for it. Can't wait to see what you come up with! :D

I'll definitely provide an animation simulation for this one.

So, I feel like a potential critique for this would be too many unrelated concepts. Would it possible to confine these ideas into one cohesive attraction or maybe one complex that intertwines, but is still easy to disassemble and move?

Yes, I have to agree. Could we officially clarify what our project will entail? Is it going to be the cloud-coaster and Basketbuddy's flat ride?

My attraction has a control element to it (basically makes it spin at will). We can unify our attractions on the premise of being able to manipulate the ride somehow to alter the experience.

I don't think that the attractions have to be related. We're only making the other rides for Walt's Vault and it's literally for extra credit worth 5 points each. I wouldn't worry about interconnecting them too too much.

Also, I really like that tea cup concept, BasketBuddy!

Alright, that sounds good.

If y'all want, it might make sense to have 1 person per the four extra ones and 2 people on the main ride. I wouldn't mind taking one of the extra ones. I'll do some brainstorming tomorrow at school. :)

I could do an extra. What would you like me to do? I've been thinking about updating the classic carousel. I've also heard an idea of updating the aerial dark-ride system (Peter Pan, for example) with Kuka-arm technology, to allow for realistic flight movements.

I would not be opposed to a second opinion on the main attraction :)

We might want to try to have some overarching presentation for this as well. It might set our project over the edge if we do that.

Only suggesting that because we have a few without anything really to do.
