I'm actually not opposed to Up at all, it's an inventive choice! If most everyone on the team is OK with taking a non-musical film and turning it musical, I think we could really make that work! Like I said, Finding Nemo the musical (literally) rocks.

It doesn't have to be Up, but what's everyone think about using a movie with no songs? We don't probably have to worry too much about practicality.

If we do up, my only request is to not add words to "Married Life"

I like the idea of a Monsters Inc show, similar to the stage play "Put That Thing Back Where It Came From" that was shown in the movie's end credits.

In all honest, my personal vote would be Moana, but I'm open to anything. If we all want to do UP, I'm fine with that.

I absolutely agree. That would ruin the whole thing.

I'm starting to wonder if we need to include the segment at all in a stage show, and potentially put more emphasis on the Paradise Falls segment instead. Doing "Married Life" on stage would be very tricky, and many sets and costumes would be needed due to time progression.

I still think we need to include the intro just to introduce Muntz and Ellie. Married Life could be adapted if we had an old Carl looking at pictures, and on the side, young versions of himself and ellie doing various things idk tho

You guys probably aren't going to go this route, but since it was suggested I just want to throw out that Peter Pan has had a stage show aboard Disney Cruise Lines...

I'm gonna make a final case for Cinderella and drop it if no one bites
1. Good music that can be expanded on
2. Chance for interesting effects
3. Room for more character development
4. The chance for good plot expansion
5. Small scope that'd be easily done on a theme park/cruise ship level

A quick thought for presentation that I have thought of doing, what if we made a new thread in this forum, and acted like it was in News and Rumors with this project coming to fruition? As in, person A heard crazy thing from random source, person B disregards it and calls it fake. Person C agress with B. Insider alludes to truth. Speculation begins. Another insider gives a hint. Oficially announced by Dis. Further speculation and hints. Opening date drops ft. Concept Art. Reviews come in with full descriptions.

Can I be the person who starts the Disney vs Uni debate inevitably by page 2? :p

Also, I still really like the concept of UP, which could be featured in a new South America section in AK with "Adventure is Out There" being the main song. We could try to do Married Life (sans lyrics) as a montage like Hyperion does Do You want to build a snowman?

No I like it as a possibility for sure. But isn't Cinderella a Cruise Line show? I thought you already said that.

I've compiled some of the movies that have gotten a significant amount of chatter here so far.

Movies that have been semi-adapted but we could still use:
Princess and the Frog
Cinderella

Fresh movies:
Moana
Goofy Movie
Fantasia
Dumbo

Relatively non-musical movies:
Dumbo
Up

A couple of movies have been championed heavily, and I think that's great! We should pick something we're passionate about. We just have to find something that at least most of us are excited to work on.

EDIT: I had a new great idea that I thought I'd add to the mix. In the same category as a project like Famtasia would become, we could compile some kind of anthology series using songs and scenes from many of those post-Fantasia movies like Melody Time, Saludos Amigos, and Fun and Fancy Free. Heck, we could use material from other short films too if we wanted. I don't think the guidelines specifically restrict using more than one source

What's everybody think?

I actually thought of this for a minute but I thought it was a cat induced wake up at 5:00 idea. Mixing it with Fantasia would be a cool idea. We could make it like Cirque du Disney with a bunch of different style acts put into a loose storyline.

I like the package film/shorts compilation idea, it would lend itself to a creative show easily and wouldn't be a retread of what's been done before. :) Just a matter of picking the right segments. Maybe we could tie in Fun and Fancy Free by having Jiminy Cricket narrate it?

Off the top of my head, sequences that might lend themselves well:
Fantasia - Sorcerer's Apprentice, Dance of the Hours, Night on Bald Mountain
Saludos Amigios - Aquarela Do Brasil
The Three Caballeros - Os Quindins de Yayá, the title song
Make Mine Music - All the Cats Join In, Casey at the Bat, After You're Gone
Melody Time - Bumble Boogie, Blame it on the Samba, Pecos Bill
Ichabod and Mr. Toad - The Headless Horseman song
Winnie the Pooh - The Blustery Day song, Heffalumps and Woozles
Shorts - The Brave Engineer, Melody, Toot Whistle Plunk & Boom, A Symposium on Popular Songs

Unfortunately, I am not exceptiollay familar with most of these. However, I love Magic Feather's Idea for the presentation
