Team Durango Brainstroming Thread - Project Two: The Golf War

My favorite is Land, Sea, Space as well... so many different IPs we can use to tell a really effective story!

This one IMO has so much potential. We can turn it into something really cool with each hole being themed to a different IP.

Although reading the prompt I am confused. Are each team creating one course so there are three courses, and each course have to be in the same genre?

Each team is creating one course that compliments the other two. They don’t have to be the same necessarily, nor are we really supposed to be working together.

If I’m understanding it, the team is making one 18 hole mini golf course divided into 3 6-hole sections.

The prompt says that the 3 courses are supposed to make up 18 holes that are differently themed sections that work together in sync

So my idea for this is that each hole is themed to a different IP related to whichever section they are, and the last hole of each course is the transition to the next one, so if Moana ended the sea section, it could be themed to her landing on Maui’s island or something like that

Each team is making their own mini golf course, but each of the three courses the teams design are going into the same hypothetical "Disney's Golfland" concept so the goal is to have a theme that is unique to your team but compliments the other two concepts. @JokersWild is right, there really shouldn't be much cross-team communication. I'll allow it for right now as you guys are establishing themes to work with but once concepts are nailed down ya'll should really be sticking to your own team thread :)

Is each team’s course 18 or 6 holes?

So if our course's theme is Land, Sea, Sky/Space, we have these IPs:

LAND: pretty much any IP

SEA: Pirates of the Caribbean, Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio (Monstro), Moana

SKY/SPACE (some of these are a stretch): Peter Pan, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wall-E, Lilo & Stitch (again), Toy Story (Buzz)

Also 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Muppet Treasure Island for Sea.
The Black Hole, Captain Marvel, Treasure Planet, Space Buddies, Tomorrowland, Planes, Dumbo, Flight of the Navigator, and The Rocketeer for Air/ Space

So upon discussing today, it seems the two main ideas are
1. Land / Sea / Space (or Sky)
2. Yesterday / Tomorrow / Fantasy (or Present)

I have created a Google Doc for us to vote! Once we come to a majority decision we can break up into our proper teams.

Does that count pranks, distracting memes, and various forms of shenanigans?

THe idea would be one team would make a Land themed course, one team would make a sky themed course, and one team would make a sea themed course. Not that one team would make one course with all three. So, your course wouldn't be themed to land, sea, sky. It would just be themed to one of those.

Or Yesterday, Tomorrow, or Fantasy if that is the triplet we go with.

Also, realizing now I am in the wrong team's thread. Heading back to the land of Sony.

Since all three team's projects this round were supposed to tie together into one big Golfland concept, all the ideas pitched so far have been triplets. That way, once one is picked, there are three themes to divide between teams.

I've been giving the overarching theme a lot of thought, and I worry that going too far with it while totally limiting ourselves thematically. I don't think that the judges want a triptych - they just want three courses that compliment each other. Thus, I'd like to propose The Golfport: a hub area for each of our three golf courses. Each course would focus on a different aspect of minigolf. One course would be more innovative, another more thematically unique, and a third that's the classic minigolf experience. I think this is a good way to not limit ourselves and allow us to do basically anything while still complimenting each other. I know that I'm coming in at the twilight hour of this theme vote, but I just wanted to try to put it out there before we really committed to something. If you guys aren't keen to it, that's totally cool with me.

So what’s the game plan (besides a 2007 American family comedy film directed by Andy Fickman and written by Nichole Millard, Kathryn Price and Audrey Wells and starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. It follows a professional quarterback who finds out he has an 8-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.)

From what I saw last night it looks like Land, Sea, Sky/Space was winning, but it’s not letting me view the results without voting again. If that is our choice, we should make a bid for which one we want. Personally I think Sea would be super cool and we could do some awesome things with it.

Also, I saw some players mentioning IP. We’ll have to decide as a theme if we’re doing IP or not. Personally, I’m anti-IP as I think a wholly original course would be more enticing than one with Disney characters shoehorned in, but on the other hand, I can see the draw to IP for kids.

I think that not using IPs could potentially lead to a more disjointed course, but I understand the no-IP argument.

i feel like even with land sea and sky, phineas and ferb seems like a stretch, but i think we could find a way to make it work. if not, than im fine without it. i just want a real life disco mini golf.
