im in Disney and he tea cup were down 2 days ago for a 1 day refurb. Speaking to the cast members it was to work on the breaking system. It's open now and it seems to be breaking a lot quieter. It's not completely gone but when I talked to a cast member he said he was under them today. There is a new break rubber mechanism and it rubs against the metal to stop it. It was replaced but since the humidity in Florida it causes the rubber to sweat and that makes the little squeak. It is however much better at this time.

Hmm. Thought this would be interesting news to more people.

Give it a few hours and it'll be a 25 page thread discussing everything from how the Teacups are themed better in Paris, or how they should add an Alice themed area to Fantasyland, to why this brake issue would have never happened during the 'good ole days'. ;)
...and of course it will be linked to the "Yeti refurb".

It's actually called the stick-slip phenomena, and is the same reason for squeaky chalk on a chalkboard or music from a violin. It's harmless.
