TDS: Interview for lead

Pretty soon I'll be interviewing for the position of part time lead at my Disney store. Since I know there are a few leads and managers reading this board, do any of you have advice for a good interview?

I love the Disney store and I'd really like to be a lead because I fell there are some good changes I could make at the store. My managers are great but they come from other retail chains and aren't as into the Disney show concept as I am. Since I've been a cast member in other parts of the company prior to this I think I could add some helpful insight and a touch of magic too!

Plus if I don't get the lead position I'll have to give up working for Disney and go get a Real Job so I can keep paying rent. Right now TDS is just a hobby for me but I wouldn't mind making it into a career. I've had the full time office jobs behind a computer and they bore me to tears! :D

goodluck in ur interview!hopefully u wont have to leave because its always good to have a cm who really loves disney not just there for a check.u had mentioned maybe making career at tds.thats a great idea.alot of cms dont look past thier own store and think store mgr is the end but in a career there its just the start-as u know u have a district mgr then a regional director then vice presidents(thats just field operations)-in glendale theres human resources, marketing, merchandising, public relations, business developent, finance, etc.

u already know this but a great sight for anyone interested in disney store careers is dcpcareers.com(disney consumer products careers)kind new web sight only for disney consumer products-disney store, licensing, publishing, catalog etc. great tool to look at daily if ur serious about disney store-im working on gettting there too-i have 10 years retail mgt experience,3 years marketing at coca cola and presently marketing mgr for canada dry.im looking at marketing mgr for disney store if i play my cards right.:D

Ok, since you didn't specify good advice or qualified advice, here goes...

> Be ready with at least a few good questions. Good = not just 'leading' questions where you expect a particular answer.

> Be ready with answers to the classic questions they're gonna ask... "Tell me a little about yourself", "What do you want to be doing in 5 years", and one guaranteed to bring beads of sweat to my brow "What do you consider to be your biggest weakness related to this job?".

> What was that Scout Motto?

...I'd really like to be a lead because I fell there are some good changes I could make at the store....

> During your interview... caution there. Make sure you convey sincere respect for the good things these managers are doing. Bring along a Tupperware(tm) container with a healthy slice of humble pie.

Best of luck to you!
