TCM teams up with Disney to refresh Great Movie Ride

A few thoughs:

Such a weird scene choice for Tangled.
I'm shocked Frozen is sharing the screen with Nemo.
And they should have kept Bette Davis' classic line from All About Eve.

But overall a good update. I just have to deal with my nostalgia

I hate hearing that the dialogue is prerecorded. This was one of the huge declines for me when they did this on Backlot.

I actually dig it, the transitions could be better, but the clips they chose minus that awkward tangled one were really great, the quality of the picture is so much better. ALSO SOME LIKE IT HOT NO BUDDIES PERFECT!!!! <3 also it ends on here is looking at you kid, very good choice

I really like this, its fresh and updated and was long overdue. Plus they finally added Steve McQueen so that was a cool surprise. I do agree that the transitions dont always flow as well ,and that Tangled scene is pathetic, otherwise nicely done update for the most part.

Change is always weird and sometimes uncomfortable but I'm glad they kept a lot of the old clips and music and simply did some much needed updating. I hope we don't see the Preshow change as I've always really enjoyed that reel but I expect that it probably will.

I'll reserve judgement on the pre-recorded audio. I'm usually not a fan of switching from a Live Narrator but it's not like the CMs really have much room to improvise and make it more fun anyway.

So how do they determine what movies go in the montage? Do they have to have agreements with the companies that made the film or what?

I am definitely not happy with this. GMR relies on the cast members to actually play a role as a...*drumroll* cast member, who is taking you on a journey into the movies! I always go on GMR because it felt personal and interactive.

I'll hold my judgment until I ride it next weekend but so far I am not fond of this change.

I'm actually interested to hear the updated pre-recorded part. The last few times on GMR, the CM narration has been terrible. Terribly mumbled, less than a lack of enthusiasm, more like sheer boredom.
The live CM read can be great, but is highly variable on keeping the CMs engaged. I've personally not witnessed it in years, but I don't visit more than once a year really, so my sample size is admittedly small.
