I'm off to the world on July 1. We will be eatting at Tappenyaki (sp?) in Epcot on July 3 and at Kona at the Polynessian on July 4. Have any of you eatten at these restaurants? How did you like it? We're thinking of changing the Tappenyaki PS to Le Cellier, but we aren't sure. We also don't like any of the other offerings in the World Showcase.

We really enjoyed the Kona Kafe for breakfast and lunch, never ate dinner there. The one thing I disliked was that it was open to the lobby...everybody walking by gave your plate the once over.

Haven't been to Teppanyaki or Le Cellier, but our favorite EPCOT restaurant is Marrakesh in Morocco. The food is spiced a little differently (using cinnamon and the like), but not hot spicy. We didn't think we would like it, but we loved it and now have lunch there every trip. And the belly dancer isn't too bad either. :animwink:

Kona!

We eat at Kona cafe each time we go to Orlando even if we are not doing the World. We love the atmosphere especially the fact it is open to the walking area upstairs which is open to the beautiful lobby below. Eating in Kona you can see the beautiful foliage and hear the water. Every now and then people walk by - it is not quite as European as a side-walk cafe, but it still feels open and is beautiful!

Kona is one of my wife's and I's favorite restaurants on all of property. I would highly recommend the Shrimp and Scallops with Wasabi Cream Sauce or the Beef Teriyaki paired with a Chateau Reynella Chardonnay.

Not that we eat there alot...

I love Teppanyaki, but I love all Japanese food. I thought that it was great, however, it is very similar to any other Japanese steakhouse type restaurant with the hibachi and cooking at the table. I went the last time I was there and we are going the next time, as well. I hope that you enjoy:wave:

Our family ate at Kona for lunch a few months back and really enjoyed our meals. I am allergic to lobster but my wife said the lobster bisque soup was great. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was outstanding. I hear they have great desserts as well. The concourse steakhouse at the Contemporary is a nice place to eat as well. Everything I have ever had there has been great. Have fun!!

We just ate at Kona Cafe for lunch a couple of days ago. The food was good, but we were staying in the Polynesian, so it was convenient. We all agreed we wouldn't make a special trip to eat there.

As someone who loves Le Cellier and made it a once or twice a trip, Tepenyaki may have pulled ahead of Le Cellier. Dont get me wrong, Le Cellier is good, but over the years, portions have shrunk as prices have increased.

Plus, at Tepenyaki, I got to talk to the chef about one of my favorite TV shows....Iron Chef. :slurp:

Heading for the great escape.
We ate at the Teapanyaki the food was great and the chef entertaining.

It was spoiled slightly by an over indulged teen sat at the same table, who made a great performance about spitting cooking juices and a mother that felt obliged to act upon it. I didnt know it was possible to moan for so long without pausing for breath.

Still she got the attention she was craving, and a discount on her bill.

Teppanyaki is in the "never again" column for us. Nothing special about it if you have any type of Japanese restaurant in your area. Kona is fine, but not a place we'd eat in again unless we were actually staying at the Poly. We love eating at WDW, but Tep. is one of those we just will not eat at ever again.

Now, different people have different opinions obviously, so if you want to try it, you should. It may be your cat's meow. If not, then you'll know next time. That's what we do. We never go by other's opinions, but try them out ourselves.

Tappenyaki is pretty much a basic Japanese steakhouse it is good and I love the Sushi Bar, but LE Cellier would be my choice out of the 2. As Scar mentioned in an earlier post LE Cellier is tough to get into esp with the dining plan going on, we have reservations on july 18 but I called 2 months ago. So in light of that you will still enjoy Tapenyaki very much.
