Talk me into the rip ride rockit

Ok. As far as talking you into riding it...

You can play the Muppets "Moving Right Along" while riding a coaster.

That's all the incentive that is necessary.

As a well seasoned coaster enthusiast that has forgotten far more about rides than most people could ever hope to know... I will tell you that RRR is safe; but, that doesn't mean it doesn't have problems. The real issues stem from being long wheelbase (3 row) chassis with short wheelbase (2 row) cars. This means more weight is hanging unsprung over the axles which puts more wear and tear on the wheels and it also means that the cars in the train are connected by a much longer coupler that creates more torque than most rides on the joints. For the most part, these means the wheels and assemblies get the ever loving snot kicked out of them if compared to a ride that had the axels in the right place (the front and end of the cars). The wear on the wheels is what creates the wide range of smooth or rough rides depending on if your particular car has had them replaced recently.

It's safe as long as maintenance is kept up. Which is where the real issues with the Universal/Maurer dispute are. The amount of maintenance is much higher than anticipated.

The long wheelbase chassis/short wheelbase car has worked precisely never over the history of coasters. I have no idea why manufactures keep trying it - other than it allows the train to make transitions quicker. Manufacturers keep trying to add more capacity back in though and thus try adding more rows. Of course, B&M figured this out a long time ago and went with wider rows instead of longer chassis designs.

When a correct code is entered the screen won’t tell you what the song is but with a little research and multiple rides we’ve discovered several correct codes and their corresponding songs.
In addition to these 30 songs, Universal Studios Florida also provided additional "hidden" songs that are available to riders, but are not included in the queue video.[21]

To access these songs, after lowering the restraint, on the screen, riders must push and hold the logo of the ride for approximately ten seconds. When they release their finger, a number pad will then show up. Entering a three digit code will allow the rider to listen to the song that the code corresponds to

It's an interesting attraction because of its quirks (selectable onride audio, top-hat loop, conveyer belt boarding) but at the end of the day it's still the worst coaster in Orlando.
Those Maurer restraints are just godawful uncomfortable, especially compared to better-designed alternative systems like Gerstlauer's.
Between the discomfort, the lack of themeing, being cavity-searched just to board, and the fact that there's about a 33% chance it's down due to a sensor fault, I'd say skip it unless you're a completest.

I would note that the hidden number pad will not appear UNTIL you release your finger. If you keep holding your finger on the button it will never pop up and the ride will just default to "Busy Child".

I'd be really interested to know if they keep figures on how often certain songs are picked.
It would be amazing if more than a dozen people have ever chosen to ride it to "Do It Again" by Steely Dan.

I have ridden RRR twice and BOTH times the attendant did NOT check our safety restraints before we took off up the incline. We were scared for our lives (honestly) as we had no indication that the lap restraints latched or not. So it was not enjoyable to us for that simple fact.

Ok, that scares me!

Heading for the great escape.
RRR is OK looks worse than it is, the lift and 1st drop are teh only relative unique things, the music is barely audible most of the time especially if you like to wave your arms about. I dont like the restraints uncomfortable for the larger framed chap. Most of our visits its been closed for some of the time. Not as rough as a woody, not a patch on Hulk, DD or Kraken

RRR is not as rough as many wooden and older coasters, but it can be rather uncomfortable while riding. It didn't leave me with a head or back ache afterwards. Just made me not want to buy the video afterwards because of the uncomfortable faces I was making throughout the ride.

I had no issue with hearing the music though. Just couldn't get the keypad to appear so instead of Immigrant Song I went with Stronger.

I love roller coasters but I hated this ride. I am a fairly tiny person and I couldn't manage to brace myself well enough to keep my head/body from rattling all over the place. I walked away with a nasty headache both times I rode it (should have learned my lesson from the first time I rode it, but I thought I'd give it another shot). So, as much as I enjoyed listening to Kick Start my Heart and Sabotage, I will not be going on this coaster ever again.

After seeing them picking off the people stuck on that one, I'll never be able to go. I know, rides break. I know, no one was hurt. Still, the image of being stuck there is too much for me.
