I bought my AP TiW in September. It is valid through end of October 2013.

We do the same! Go in late October year 1, the mid October year two. Pay for one AP and TiW for two year's visits.

we purchased this yr for the first time and loved it. used it in Jun, Nov and will use again in Jan

We just don't drink enough to make a difference. We might have a drink every few nights with dinner, but overall it's still a better value for us to use DDP. At least this year... Who knows with next year's price increase.

Once you pay for TIW you can use it for 13 months, so if you make more than 1 trip in 365 days, its well worth it.

We always buy TIW as it works out best for us and we always get two trips (at least) into a 365 day period.

Probably not going to renew our APs which expire in April, but hoping to purchase another TiW in March to use for an upcoming November trip. Is this allowed? I've never been asked to show my AP before when using TiW. Will the Disney dining computer system invalidate my TiW when my AP expires. I'm guessing no.

No. It doesn't expire when your AP lapses. TiW is available to non AP holders as well. So once you buy the card, it's good til it expires. AP holders just get a discounted rate.
