T-Rex Cafe

As much as I'm not really a fan of the RC (too expensive/too slow/not enough fun), that double T-Rex burger is something I'd really like to try. :)

I'm kind of underwhelmed

The video was apparantly made by someone with a very short attention span, which made it hard to follow

From what I could see, the scenery inside looks like an extremely cheap rehash of the Rainforest Cafe. Yeah, there are fishtanks and animatronics, but there's not much of a lush primeval jungle there.

Based on what I've seen, the place should be called Jellyfish instead of T-Rex

Nothing will make you people Happy!

Oh, I totally agree!

It's like the Year of a Million Dreams. Can you believe that some people are actually yelling, screaming, and crying because some other family got prizes instead of them? It's crazy. Here is a family, who has the good fortune to be able to be at the happiest place on earth, and they let someone else's good luck "ruin" there time.

Some people, eh? Can't be happy no matter what! You are totally right.

No, that's not true, restaurants without sucky theming will make us happy!
This... yeah... this place has sucky theming.
NEXT!

Well, I won't judge until I actually see what ends up at DTD. I like dinosaurs, so I'll at least give the place a chance when it opens.

I've been to RFC numerous times and been disapointed, however, in the food, prices, and service. And to be honest, the theming is nice, but certainly not Disney-calliber. I'm much more impressed by an RFC in a mall at home than I am in the middle of WDW. The animatronics especially could be so much more. So my hopes are not set very high.

I have been to alot of Rainforest Cafes and I think the one in Downtown Disney is the best, hopefully the same holds true for T-Rex. I think this is a concept that has alot of potential and could be better than the Rainforest Cafe if they put the effort and money into it.
p.s
Does anyone have pictures of the walled-off area in Animal Kingdom where they are building the new Asian restaraunt?

The RFC on Galveston Island is by far the best of the ones I have been to. There is actually a functioning volcano and a dark water ride adjacent to the resteraunt.

I highly recomend it if you are in the area.

On the subject of the TREX, I would expect it to have a very similar offering as RFC, just different names.

First off, T-Rex as only one restaurant open, Kansas City, no offense, but not a major tourist city. DTD will the the only other restaurant posted on the website. I also looked at the menu offering, and again, nothing special here. Same fair that I can get at RFC or any other restaurant.

Thanks for posting the link.
I also watched the video.
It looks like for fun place.
I think my 4 and half year old grandson would have a lot of fun eating there.

I live about five minutes from the T-REx cafe here in Kansas City. It is very similar to the Rainforest Cafe. The only differences are that it has dinos instead of a rainforest. It also has a build a dino workshop, a dino dig, and a gems find, all of which cost extra money. The dino dig I think was 4 or 5 dollars to do it and if you wanted to watch your child you had to pay too, which I think is ridiculous. The mining part was an extra fee too!!!! The
build a dino area was small and very crowded when I went. I did ask a guy who was the main construction guy and he said that the one in Orlando would be much bigger than the one here in KC. Food was good but similar to Rainforest. I liked it very much!!! They have dinos on the outside growling and whatnot!!!! When I went the fisrt weekend that it opened there was a 2 hour wait!!! Hope the info helps!!!

By the way no KC is not a tourist city, but it may be soon!! Schlitterbaun is getting ready to break ground on there new water park and the county to the south is maybe going to build a Legoland. So Kc is getting some more things. The racetrack has helped with exposure to the area and there is a brand new shopping area. The Schillterbaun water park is going try to make it usable during winter in some way too!!!

Thanks for the video. I was pretty curious to see what this restaurant was going to look like. And now that I have, I have to say, I am kinda disappointed. I was expecting somewhat realistic looking animatronic dinosaur figures... not garrishly painted foam cut-outs (of course, none of us were around back then... so how do I know if they are realistic looking or not!!). But, this just looks like a rainforest cafe with a couple of strategically placed dinosaurs.

ITA! What a piece of trash....

Thanks for the info!

For some reason, it strongly reminds me of the dinosaurs that live in ______ Wee Herman's wall.

ETA- that is the funniest censorship on the boards I've seen in a while!
