I can't believe I missed this. My son is the biggest dinosaur fan on the planet and I missed that the T-Rex Cafe when I made reservations months ago. We're going next week and there are no dinner reservations left. What are the chances of getting a table without a reservation?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My guess us theres a pretty good chance!

Head there and ask about a table, you will probably have to wait at the bar for a while but a table should be available

Go for lunch?

Otherwise, you should be fine. When I was there a few weeks ago, they told me they only use like 10-15% of the restaurant for reservations I believe. We went at like 5pm with no reservation and were sat within a few minutes. If you go between 4-5pm, you should have no problem at all. After that you will just have to deal with wait times.

You will have no problems getting walk-up reservations between the hours of 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm...otherwise, the lunch and dinner rushes also have plenty of walkup seats, but you are competing with more people for those reservations....i.e. hour-long waits.

T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe are not Disney restaurants -- much of their clientele specifically comes from walk-ups, not from Disney Dining Reservations...

Thank you all very much. I feel so much better now! I think we will plan on an early dinner one night, we just can't miss it. Thanks again for the responses, much appreciated.

Good Morning.

Best advice is try for a lunch rather than a evening meal and Iam sure your son won't matter if it's afternoon or evening as long as there's a T-Rex breathing down his neck and the odd meteor shower overhead.Enjoy.

T-Rex Cafe is just like Rainforest Cafe, they reserve a number of tables. You will definately be able to get a table without a reservation but you may have to wait a bit. Enjoy!

I have an autistic nephew who just adores dinosaurs as well. We felt it necessary to give this place a shot. The food was nothing to rave about. Typical cheeseburgers and sandwiches. (we went for lunch) but the theming was great. We went about 2:30pm on a Wednesday I believe and we were sat immediately. :)

Och Man,You must have picked the cheeseburger & sandwich menu:ROFLOL:Try the A'La carte menu next time. They do chicken, pasta, steaks, seafood, etc. But yes I agree, the food is ok,it's the atmosphere that most people enjoy better.

I don't think we need to discuss the subpar food in this particular thread -- I don't know of anyone really that goes to T-Rex for the food; it's about the theming and entertaining the kids...

Which, as a sidenote does have a corollary -- If you don't have kids, SKIP T-REX...but there are plenty of other threads that discuss THAT particular topic...

Call them directly

I was told by the CM at T-Rex, that the online system doesn't book dinner. Anyway, I called them up and had no problem getting a ressy for the date and time I wanted. Give them a call. You'll probably get what you need, even at this late date...

Yes absolutely, you are right. No reservations are needed. The food is basically the same and they have a meteor shower every 15 minutes. I would only do it if you have kids that are begging you and that like dinosaurs. If it's just adults, I'd recommend skipping it as it is over-priced, not-that-great food.:hammer:

You could always sit up at the bar if there are absolutely no tables, kids are allowed, it's quite cool as the colour of the bar changes and you still get to see the action and can order from the full menu. Ok, it's not as good as a table in the restaurant, but an option if you need it :)

We found it varied a lot early in May, some days there was a 5-10 minute wait, another day 2 hours! We had made reservations acouple of months beforehand via Disney.

It was a pleasant meal, theming was excellent but goodness me it was cold in there, it quite spoilt it for me - and I had a jacket!

I ended up calling the restaurant directly as suggested and got a reservation no problem. My son loved it!! He's still talking about it. My 4 year old was a little scared, but thankfully we were seated with the plant eaters! Thanks to all who responded, I have the post Disney blues now, can't wait to go back.
