Located just an hour away from Sydney, NSW, Australia is the next Disneyland Resort to emerge, the Sydney Disneyland Resort!
Opening Day
On the perfect Spring day of Friday, October 1, 2010, the long-awaited Sydney Disneyland Resort opened its gates for the general public.
Opening day festivities and parades were accompanied by Bob Iger and his dedication ceremony as the cherry on top...
"To those who seek adventure, those who seek fantasy, the promises of tomorrow, and the beloved antiquity of the past, welcome! Sydney Disneyland Resort is a love letter to Walt Disney's ever-flowing ideas of celebrating life and the coming together of families, adults and children alike. Among the grounds of Sydney Disneyland Resort is a place where everyone can be united and share the joy of laughter, thrill, and most importantly... unity. In a world full of unique individuals, here at Sydney Disneyland Resort is where they can all come together in harmony and explore to their fullest extent. Thank you!"
Sydney Disneyland Resort was built on around 1,350 acres of land just outside Sydney, near Luddenham. As of opening day, it only utilized less than half of the acreage, allowing for future expansions and what-not. The following opened on October 1, and more details on each will come later:
Sydney Disneyland Park
Sydney Disneyland Hotel & Spa
Disney's Rancho Grande Hotel
Disneytown Shopping District
As I slowly make a return to the Disney forums, I thought I'd start out by introducing this project that formed after a week's-long trip to Walt Disney World. This trip got my creativity flowing again, and I hope to share these ideas with other like-minded people about Disney. As this will be a slow adventure, I invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy this journey that will go on for... years (starting in 2010, of course)!
