Sword and the Stone (MK and Disneyland)

Hey there! I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Sword and the Stone in MK and Disneyland? Im wondering specifically if someone has ever pulled the sword from the stone or if its even possible?

My daughter did in 2012. She tried several times in 2013, but was unable to do it again. She was only 6 at the time so it obviously had nothing to do with strength. I think she just got lucky somehow, but the look on her face was priceless!

It is very possible to get it out. A motor (or perhaps an electromagnet), which is controlled by a CM, actually holds the sword in until they decide to let a lucky guest pull it out.

And this shouldn't be in News and Rumors, so I will report it to get it moved.

There used to be a ceremony that children and sometimes adults could participate in. During the ceremony, it would work for one of the chosen.

The sword cannot be removed but can raise pretty high in certain situations.

I should elaborate...my daughter did not pull the sword completely out of the stone. One cannot do this. It can pulled pulled up from the stone, but it cannot be removed. That would have been an awesome souvenir though!

This is in both the MK at WDW as well as at DLP? I gather from the photo that it is by the carousel - would that be on both coasts?

Thank you for the link. Not sure I get why it shouldn't be bumped except that it's from 2009. I gather this is still occasionally happening by King Arthur's Carousel in Disneyland?

This is crazy. I have been going to Disney World for a long time, and have pulled on that sword many times. Never knew until now that the sword could actually move!
