News SWL Is Proof That Disney Has Lost Its Way

I just read somewhere in the forum (forgot where) that there may be some thing doing with comic fans/Star Wars fans not being big park goers? But that is just speculation.
Could be...

I ask variations of this question a lot: not to be “negative”...but to try and get an idea of where my franchise is? I don’t think it’s good...and I think Disney knows it

This is what I can’t comprehend...”huge Star Wars fans” don’t seem to be compelled to mob the place...

So I’ve been wondering for months if maybe those fans are vastly diminished??
And that’s a story that goes back to 1999
Pure speculation, but it could have something to do with the sequel trilogy. It’s divided fans. I’m okay with it (besides The Last Jedi, which was utterly horrible IMO), but I think I’m in the miniority. I believe that the majority of park-going Star Wars fans are getting tired of the “Disney” Star Wars and the—for lack of a better saying—watering down of the franchise. I think that if you asked a sequel trilogy hater why they didn’t go to Batuu was because Disney had left a bad taste in their mouth and they’re fed up with it.

I would thank that if the land was based more on the OG trilogy that it would have more excitement but I'm not sure. Star Wars has been everywhere the last few years so it could be oversaturation or maybe everyone moved on to marvel and Star Wars is a casulty. I myself am waiting for ROTR to open before even thinking about trying to go back. Is tempting with how empty the parks are though.

You need to spend that much to get to Disneyland...what’s in it is irrelevant. I think the point is Star Wars has to be exceptional for it to drive people there

There are less of us but things like Star Wars Celebration conventions are hugely attended. Disney/Hasbro has done their best to kill toy sales over the last ten years but somehow Star Wars is still part of internet Geekdom just like Marvel is.

For the regular Joe, it's just a series of movies just like any other movie (including Disney ones).

I'm a huge Star Wars fan but I have no desire to go to GE because Disney has just outpriced themselves. There is nothing in the stores that I would want. If I want a custom lightsaber, I'll order a really good one from Ultrasabers for the same price. Target Run could have been much better. The land isn't worth the effort to go there without ROTR. If someone else was paying, I'd be there.

There are comic book & SW fans who love Disney parks, and comic book & SW fans who have no interest in the parks. I think it pretty much reflects every other segment of the GP. Taking a wild guess from personal experience and the comic book vlogs out there commenting on GE--and considering that many, many comic book and SW fans appreciate art, film history, and imaginative stories, I'd bet there are actually a larger percentage of Disney park fans in that group that in the non-comic book/SW fan public. Could I possibly have worded that any more awkwardly?

It’s amazing how many different demographics they missed on with SWL. So that begs the question, what demo are they appealing to currently? I think it’s primarily people that didn’t have expectations. Casual DL guests and casual Star Wars fans. And even with them, I think the reaction is that the land is “good.” It’s obviously an issue when you re neither exciting the hardcore DL fans OR the hardcore Star Wars fans with a billion dollar addition. ROTR should probably convert some of the naysayers from both groups into fans of Galaxies Edge. How many, remains to be seen.
