Switzerland Pavilion in Epcot--planned, never came to be

As I got my Gold D23 membership in the mail recently, I was looking at the exclusive calender that came with it. Each month presented an Imagineered attraction/land/etc. that never came to be.

In November 2011, the picture/story was of a Switzerland Pavlion planned for Epcot. The idea came about in 1985 & the pavilion would have been set between the Italy and Germany pavilions. This would have included little Swiss shops and restaurants. It also would have brought along Disneyland's 'Matterhorn Bobsleds', with a few additions to add more thrill to the ride.

Hmmm, I wonder how this would have turned out in Epcot, if it came to be. What would a coaster-type ride look like in World Showcase?

Your thoughts...

The Matterhorn was planned in conjunction with a Mount Fuji attraction for the Japan Pavilion. That way there would be a mountain on each side of the America Pavilion.

So there would be two Matterhorns??

It was planned for a Switzerland pavilion that never got realized.
No, a Matterhorn next to Germany and a Fuji behind Japan. There is plenty of art for both available. These are probably the best known never-built Showcase additions.

Ok, just a little confused...

I just thought how it would be cool to have the Matterhorn in WDW, but not an exact same ride in the same sister park.
