Switched from POFQ to WL with FD in October

I switched from POFQ no FD (standard view) to WL (courtyard view bunkbed room) with FD for 3 adults/1 child for about $250 more per night. This is in October 2013 - my dates were already within the allowed dates. This seems like a pretty good price for moving from POFQ to WL and adding Free Dining in October.

I'm a little sad we won't experience staying at POFQ (after all that research!), but WL was where I wanted us to stay first anyway because I think my two sons will love it and the bunk beds too, though POFQ sounds really nice.

I feel a bit like I paid for free dining, but since the room "upgrade" rate seems good, I'm becoming ok with it.

After waiting an hour on the phone yesterday morning, I had to do SOMETHING, and this seems to have worked out ok. I MIGHT have gone with one of the other moderates that had space, but I just wasn't really that familiar with them, and I already knew the transportation for WL was a step up from POFQ because of the boat to MK.

$250 per night more? That sounds like a lot. Typically the WL runs about 120 - 150 more per night than any of the moderates. You may have been better off with buying the dining plan and staying at POFQ with a room discount.

I believe they told me POFQ was exempted from the room discount, or was that only exempt from FD?

Looking at the undiscounted rates today (for this week in October) the WL room is about $240 more than the POFQ room per night.

POFQ does qualify for the room discount. But that just seems like a really high rate for WL.
Ahh well maybe its worth it, Ive never stayed there because my other half doesn't like the theme but Id love too.

If I hadn't have liked the idea of staying at WL I definitely would have just sat tight at POFQ. She might have told me what the POFQ discount was and it seemed underwhelming - it's all a blur!
