Swiss Family Robinson to be Remade

Jungle Cruise was definately linked to True Life Adventures, but it wasn't necesarily based on them. The African Queen seems to be an obvious influence, and I think I've seen it mentioned as one by Imagineers, but I may be dreaming that up.

As far as SFR: Why?? Imagine the kind of uproar if Disney decided to remake Snow White or any other animated classic. Give live action films the respect they deserve, end the pointless remakes and make with some re-releases instead!

Officially, the Jungle Cruise WAS based on the African Queen.

This can be confirmed by looking into the "Walt Disney World Explorer" and "The D Show." (Both are computer programs)

 I totally agree! This is a very good point. They would never think to remake animations. Why do it to movies in other genres? Obviously it hasn't been too successful.

I don't think that remakes deserve all the negative vibes that they get. I mean if done correctly they can serve a very valuable purpose. Honestly I loved watching the original Disney movies when I was a kid, and deep down I dislike things getting replaced, but I know there are benefits to it too. We all know that Disney has a strong fanbase, but every fanbase grows older. To maintain a correct flow of in and out you have to either make something new or redo the past. As we get older and our kids get older, and they have kids (that aren't into watching technicolor shows), these kids are going to walk by that treehouse and wonder what the heck it is.
Everybody complains about attractions getting removed, but that wouldn't happen if they could maintain links to new generations. That is why I believe a remake is a great idea, because it will be a "new" movie for my kids to watch, and then associate with the attraction.

I just rented the movie to watch with my son; first time seeing it since the 60s. So the kid in the film speculates that there must have been a land bridge for Asia which explains the presence of a tiger and elephant. Sounds reasonable enough.

But then there are zebra, an ostrich and a leopard (Africa). Later there's a blue macaw and an annaconda (South America). My, what a wonderous bridge this must've been. You'd think the History Channel would do a special about it. I told the boy if they encountered a penguin, I'd have to smash the TV.

Cheers.

Well, since the Swiss Family Treehouse is based on the original movie, then it's not quite a "plug" for an attraction. It's not like the treehouse was built and then years later they decided "Hey, since we have this treehouse thing, let's make a movie of it." It's just that they are remaking one of their old movies. Something they seem to be doing alot lately.
Yes they are remaking a lot of older movies again. I know it is not a Disney movie, but they are also remaking Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I love the original Swiss Family Robinson. I dont know how they can improve on it?
