Swearing in the parks, have you experienced this?

I'm not a big swearer myself, though if injuring myself I have been known to drop the odd 'F' bomb if nobody is around. However my golden rule would always be to not swear in front of children, it's just wrong. Was thinking back to my many trips to Disney and have to say that on the whole I've heard next to no swearing in the parks. Ok there was one guy in the gents toilets as I entered who said something like "I would avoid the cubicle bud, looks like Goofey's had a huge #$*" in there and not flushed", however that was one on one and was delivered in a quite well timed and funny manner. The only other time was a guy near Space Mountain who was ranting quite loudly on his phone about his business and how some contractor had let him down. He was throwing in swear words here and there but then stormed off as a cast member walked towards him.

Anyone else witness swearing in the parks? Also what do the cast members usually do if they hear swearing?
Hell yes!
....in all honestly not too much at Disney, but I once was at a hotel with a waterpark and an elevator full of children and this guy walks in(with his own kids) and yells loudly "I'm from Fbomb New York!"

I swear, blame my parents. I try not to swear at Disney but it sometimes slips. Often when excited and not angry. Don't drink either so not that. So do I hear it at Disney? Heck yeah, but likely from me. Sorry. And before you judge, I'm educated, hold a great job, and am a parent. Swearing is a sign of honesty and intelligence. That's my story and I'm sticking to it https://www.discovermagazine.com/he...mouth-swearing-could-actually-be-good-for-you
Love the article! I have to say, the part on “Fluent in Foulness” reminded me of one of the most hysterical things I’d seen re. swearing. We had a visiting surgeon from China and one day while we were in the OR, our other attending surgeon found out the visiting doc had no clue how to swear in English, so he told him that he just needed to learn how to properly apply the F-word as adjective. Listening to this poor guy try to learn to swear was quite memorable—also passed the time! Glad he could take something back with him that will always remind him of our team!

I can imagine that was quite memorable! Sounds quite funny to me!

Only inappropriate incident I can recall was at F&W. A group was just trashed and incredibly inappropriate at the Irish pub. Luckily, no kids were around, but it was inappropriate nonetheless. They were escorted out.

Since I work in manufacturing I hear it all day. I probably didn't notice it while at the parks.
Being in an extremely high-stress environment (burn unit), we swore quite a bit when in our office/grand rounds/meetings--basically anywhere out of earshot of patients. It definitely was a way to relieve a bit stress; it wasn't like it was consistent but a choice word thrown in here or there, or used to describe a really horrendous situation sometimes called for something, er, a bit more descriptive. Although it could definitely backfire! My poor colleague, a PT, was typing her documentation for one of her patients and a phrase that's very commonly used is "sit-to-stand"...but this being toward the end of the week and she not paying attention to what she was typing (and the fact that she didn't proof-read carefully before submitting the note) had actually typed, "s*it-to-stan!" 🥴

Cussing in public is uncouth and disrespectful. Even more so if there are children about. So no, I don't cuss in public except under very special circumstances.

Not anymore as my kids are teenagers, but in the past if you were to disrespect my family and cuss around them, I would sometimes return the disrespect in other far more imaginative and annoying ways (especially if we could not escape).

I really don't care anymore, but I like to know who the hillbillies are around me anyway so as to avoid them easier.

If by “witness” you mean do I curse like a drunken sailor from New Jersey, then yes, I have “witnessed” it.

Didn't that actually lend an air of authenticity to the Irish Pub?

LOL . . . perhaps, but the last place I'd get belligerent drunk at is Disney. You'd expect people would do better considering it's Disney World and there are a bunch of families once you walk out that door.

LOL, this reminds me of the worst swearing incident I ever saw at WDW. We were standing in a 45-minute queue for Big Thunder during Easter break in 2005. The line was full of dozens of folks who looked like Jersey Shore extras, who suddenly began screaming in call-and-response fashion from every corner, "Wheuh ah we frummmm?" "F***KIN New Juhsey!" We couldn't tell if they were all part of a gargantuan tour group, or if this is just something that all people from New Jersey do when they meet other people from New Jersey, but it went on in random bursts for the entire 45 minutes. We didn't have kids yet, so we had no reason to say anything, and the parents of little ones around us in line just stood there looking confused and a little scared.

The New York area has some of the best people, smartest, most beautiful, but the average mean gets dragged down because it also has some of the worst, uncouth people too.
This is exemplified in that if you sail out of a NY area port or sail out of Miami and you will have a different experience, lol.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have personally tossed out a swear word at WDW. Not very often, but generally when someone cuts in line or runs into me for not watching where they're going. I do my best to not do so when kids are around.
