Yes, that and no magical express. You can charge purchases made at the Swan and Dolphin to your room though. You would have all the other amenities including bus and boat transportation and Extra Magic Hours.

The Swan has views of the Dolphin, Epcot, or MGM, all just depending on where your room is at the resort. From many rooms, you can see both Epcot and MGM.

Both the Swan and Dolphin have regular Disney gift shops inside them, just like the Disney hotels. You can charge purchases at them to your room.

WDW purchases outside of the Swan or Dolphin gift shops cannot be charged to your room. BUT, merchandise can be delivered back to the resort for you at no charge. You'll just have to pick them up at the Disney gift shops in the lobbies. Disney doesn't take them to your room for you.

To clairify....

All rooms at the Swan and Dolphin have windows, but only select rooms offer balconies.

Also note, these resorts are official hotels of Walt Disney World, but are not Disney owned or operated. That is why your room charge privliege will not extend beyond the hotel itself. Also note Guests at these resorts cannot book a Magic Your Way Plus Dining package(ie no Disney Dining Plan), or take advantage of Disney's Magical Express.

As other have stated, these Resorts do offer continuous Disney Transportation to the Disney Theme Parks, Water Parks, and Downtown Disney, and Guests at these two Resorts may take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour Benefit, free parking at the Disney Theme Parks, and package delivery to your Resort's gift shop.

This is the same behavior as at Disney-owned resorts as well. They no longer take them to your room (it's been several years since they did, but I wish they still did!)

Is it cheaper to stay in S or D than it is the Beach Club?
It just looks a really fab area to be in (the boardwalk) coz I love that you can just walk to Epcot and get the boat to MGM, and youve got a little evening entertainment district right on your doorstep.
Which would you say was the better option?
Are Yacht and Beach club just villas, sorry I don't know much about that area but it looks cooooooooooool!

The Yacht Club and Beach Club and regular resorts with regular room configurations, 2 queens and a day bed etc. There are Beach Club Villas as part of the DVC. It can be cheaper to stay at the S & D as there are times it can be cheaper to stay the at the Beach Club. www.disney.com website can give you room/season prices.
