Swan Questions

How is the Swan/Dolphin for resort relaxation? My wife does not enjoy the parks as much as the rest of the family, and she expects to stay by the pool or around the hotel some of the times we go to the parks. We've stayed at GF and BC a few times each and she loved them. But it's been five years and our kids are much bigger, so with the teacher rate we can get two rooms at the Swan for the price of one at BC. Will she be disappointed in the resort area, especially compared to the BC?

Also - what about the crowds at Swan? I've read there are a lot of convention groups or tour groups. Does any of that make it feel more like a hotel and less like a resort? Again, BC is an option, though it will be crowded in the room with the five of us. I'd hate to get to the Swan and think we should have gone to the BC instead. Still - having two rooms for the price has to be considered. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think your wife will enjoy staying at the Swan. For one thing, it has the BEST BEDS in the world. The pool on the Dolphin side is very nice and the hotels both have some really nice places to eat. Not to mention that 2 rooms is much better that 5 in one room. Have a great time...when are you going?

I stay at the Swan alot and it is Great!!!!! the swan is a great place for relaxing.....the lap pool is more relaxing.......cause there are less kids..because they go to the main pool where the slide and stuff are......i dont think the conventions will bother you.....they tend to stay in the lobby or near the convention rooms....sometimes they venture to the pool areas and outside but i dont think she will be bothered....plus if you walk down the hall where the conventions take place there is free food and drinks all over and they give it to you as you pass by... the food is ok at the Swan and Dolphin, but dont forget the Boardwalk is right there and i would reconmend Spoodles or the ESPN Club.great food!!!!...any other questions about the Swan???

We've stayed at the Swan once, and I have to tell you, it's excellent. Not only is it a nice resort, but since the boardwalk is right there, you can easily walk back and forth to Epcot or the Disney MGM-Studios. It really isn't that far, maybe about half of a mile walking distance, and it saves a whole lot of time because you don't have to wait for buses or wait in huge lines for the buses.:)

Thanks for the responses so far. Having stayed at the Beach Club twice, we are sold on the location. Since the kids are older we'll probably do one day at MK and more time at Epcot and MGM. So the only choices are the resorts around this area. We're going in early August - no need to tell me about the heat - we've experienced it five times before. This will be our first time back in five years, and we have some great memories of our other trips.

I appreciate the point about the lap pools having less kids - that would be an advantage for my wife over Stormalong Bay when she wants to relax by herself.

Someone asked if I had other questions about the Swan, and I do have a couple. The first is regarding views - anything in particular I should ask for or anything I should try to avoid? The second is the renovation - is complete or will it be complete by August? I've read about the beds being great from one resposne and I've heard that from info on other sites as well.

Thanks again for your help.

I love the swan, stayed there twice, once on my honeymoon and again a couple years later. You've been to BC so you know the area and transportation. The swan has great restaurants and lounges. Being from Ca. I really appreciate a 24 hr. eatery. Remember, 3am east coast is only midnight to me. A lagoon view is good, you can see fantasmic's fireworks. My only beef is that the hallways are sooo long that after an adult beverage or three you can lose your room pretty easy.:hammer:
