Your deal gets everybodys praise, most of disney dining isnt very good in my opinion, just average, there is great dining at swan and dolphin and also at bonnet creek resorts, oh yeah, dining plan saves you very little.take the deal.:)

As much as I love my beloved GF I would so take the deal, I think it would still kinda like staying at Disney as you are surrounded by it. Good luck and have fun.

Disney condition??? I stayed at the Wilderness lodge 2 years ago and it was crap for what they charged. Rugs were thread bare, refrig didn't work, toilet ran, sloppy patch work in the bathroom dry wall, caved in mattresses. Disney condition is a for people who don't stay in real high end hotels. BTW I have stayed in the Lodge 5 or 6 times and I like it, I just thought the many things were not even motel 6 worthy.
I didn't suggest that "typical Disney condition" was way above par or that Disney was running what could be considered real luxury-type hotels.

I don't thInk there is a standard definition of "high-end" and am never sure if people mean "expensive", "good quality" or "snobbish" when they use it. Disney hotels are certainly expensive. They are better than some, but are not as good as some others in Orlando. You can stay somewhere nicer for less money, that is for sure. But some people really like the bubble! They're happy there. :)

I've had great rooms and less than great rooms at the Dolphin. Though the majority of my rooms at disney were fine, I've never had a room at the Dolphin as bad as a few I had at Disney. But it's been a while since I've been in a room at the Dolphin. :)

So here's my dilemma... I work for Starwood so I can get a room at the swan or dolphin for $69 a night plus 50% off all food and beverage at any of the restaurants. While this is an awesome deal. I'm afraid I'll miss out on some of the magic staying at a more "Disney" resort and getting the dining plan and eating at all the themed restaurants. Will I regret not spending the extra money to stay at a Disney resort? Thanks for any advice!

No, you will regret missing out on the 69$ deal!!! You can always make a couple of ressie's at some of the themed restaurants. 69$ a night is a no brainier, take it and run!!!

I haven't been inside a room in several years and cannot speak to the condition of any of the rooms.

When I did stay there, the rooms were kept in typical Disney condition.
"Disney condition"? The Swalphin properties are not Disney properties and have only a few Disney connections. The condition of the rooms, however they are, are correlated to Starwood management & their standards.

Location, Location, Location!! You will have boat access, bus, or walking access from there. Not to mention, you will be close to the Boardwalk. I would jump on that deal!! It's close to all Epcot/DHS resorts.
