As previously discussed here, here and here, my son rides Snow White's Scary Adventures rather frequently (which is kind of like saying the ocean is rather damp). On April 16th he went on his 1000th ride, which was made very special through the efforts of several CMs and members of this board.

The week after the big event Ben and I were in the park when we were stopped by one of the regular CMs we see, and she asked me when Ben was going to hit the big 1000. I told her it had already happened, and told her about how it went off, and she said that the Fantasyland cast members still wanted to do something special for Ben. She asked for my phone number, and told me to expect a call in the next few days.

Early last week I received a call from Theo Porter, the manager in charge of Fantasyland. He told me that all of the people in Fantasyland were very excited to hear about Ben's acheivement, and wanted to do something special for him. We agreed that Ben would stop by City Hall on Main Street yesterday at 1:30 for a special treat.

You can read my full account of the day in my journal entry. The reader's digest version is that Ben was given a private meet-and-greet with Snow White and Dopey in a nice, quiet private room. Also present were the two cast members who arranged everything (both of whom are long-time CM's who have enjoyed seeing Ben over the past two years), and then a third CM I didn't recognize, but who I assume was some kind of manager or security person. Ben was given pile of gifts, including a prince's crown, a bag of pixie dust, a commemorative certificate, a beautiful picture frame, and...

...a genuine Cast Member nametag. It's one of the brand new "Happiest Celebration on Earth" nametags, with his name proudly engraved on it. He was stopped at least a dozen times during the day by other cast members, asking how he got a real nametag. Ben seemed pretty proud of the whole thing.

There were tons of pictures taken, so as soon as the film is processed and digitized I will post a photo gallery - probably around the middle of the week.

Oh, and for anyone who was concerned: the witch in the mirror scene on SWSA is finally back in sync. But Dopey and Sneezy are still MIA from the yodeling scene.

AHhhh Theo...One of the best managers Fantasyland has ever seen...and one of the best in all of my career. :sohappy:

Exactly what I was going to say. Theo is by far one of the best GSMs in Fantasyland!!! He does a great job, and I'm so glad he was able to do something special, again for you guys!

Wow, GREAT story.

It reminds me of the old days of CM's taking it not only to the next level, but the level AFTER that. Absolutely awesome!

Tell your son congrats on the 1000th ride!!! Having a passion for something, no matter how big or small, is very important in life. Great to see he already has one of those "somethings" at such a young age! :)

Great story!

And you also put an end to mousermerfs "they are only putting stickers on the new nametags!!!" Two birds with one stone.

But great story!

That is really awesome that the Fantasyland cast would want to do that! I didn't think non-CM's could get nametags, period. Oh, by the way, I like the reaction of the security guard that you mentioned in your journal entry "wow..." :)

Edit: yes, good to hear about the engraving of the tags as opposed to stickers.

I remember working with Theo when he was College Program in monorails back in the early 90's. I remind him of this when I see him. He is a really nice guy.

Oh, wow, that is WONDERFUL!!!! I am so excited for you and Ben! Congratulations! That sounds like an amazing thing the Fantasyland CMs did, and what wonderful gifts! Ben is a lucky fellow.
That's funny about the security guard in your journal. It would have been very funny if he would have said "my apologies, sir Benjamin!" and then bowed down. :king:

Since Ryland didn't know what I was talking about where Dopey and Sneezy are missing, I finally took him to the window display up at the front of the Emporium. I had forgotten that the same scene, the silly song scene, from Snow White is up there, and Dopey and Sneezy are still in there! I said, see, that's what it supposed to look like, to which he said "ohhhh!" Even though Sneezy looks a little tall and slightly funky, same basic idea.

Here's to 2000! (Which probably makes you want to cringe)
