Survivor: One World Cast — and Major Twist — Revealed

By Lindsay Silberman | TV Guide – 18 hours ago

The Survivor casting announcement often includes such prototypes as a farmer, a model, a doctor, a mother hen, a computer nerd and a cocky athlete. And the upcoming season of Survivor: One World is no different.

What is different, however, is that for the first time in Survivor history, both tribes will be sharing the same beach, the network announced Wednesday. Crazy! They'll be allowed to share resources and form inter-tribe alliances — it's an interesting twist for a show that's been pretty stagnant of late (the upcoming will mark Survivor's 24th season).

On Survivor: One World, which premieres Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 8/7c on CBS, 18 castaways will be divided into two tribes: Men (Salani) and Women (Manono).

It's an interesting premise! I'm looking forward to it, even though the contests seemed pretty predictable when I looked through the pictures.

I had a random Survivor sighting Saturday before last at DHS...Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca were riding TSMM in the car behind us. They weren't waiting in the regular line, I first noticed them standing on the opposite side where you get off of the ride w/ a cast member, and then they put them in the car behind us. I had read somewhere that his cancer had returned, so it was pretty cool to see him looking well and having fun. I always liked him.

Ladies and Gentlemen...Let's get ready to Ruuuuuummmblllee!!!!

Tonight is the start of the new season.

Looks like a diverse cast. Oldest is 64, youngest is 21.

I like the new twist.

Looks like Chelsea is gonna be this season's Whitney. Not that that's a bad thing.

Actually, it is Brad Culpepper's wife, he was a Defensive Tackle for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Thank for the clarification!

On a side note (but somewhat related) I can never remember which Hasselbeck Elizabeth (from Survivor, now the View) married.

I always remember it as the crappier of the 2 QBS.

I'm excited for tonight's episode! I am so happy there is no redemption island!

Did anyone watch? I think this season is going to be crazy. You can’t let the tribes cohabitate without them near killing each other. Should be fun to watch!!! :ROFLOL:

I felt bad for the girl that broke her wrist. And the one that messed up her face. How many times did Jeff say "fall on your back and keep your arms in"? I think there is NO WAY the girls would have played out the challenge if the guys lost someone. Why should they? Guaranteed to skip tribal? Who would pass on that?

Tribal was great. I hate that big mouth with the frizzy hair. She needs to be smacked. Not that any of the guys care – but how hot is it REALLY at night that the girls wanted to go hang by the boys fire in their underwear? Girl power my rear end. Feminine wiles power is more like it!!

I totally agree - I liked the girl who broke her wrist, I was bummed that she was out so quickly. I kept shouting at the TV when they were jumping - no one was listening to him! Within 10 minutes of the show starting, I knew I was going to hate the loud-mouth. The women are totally embarrassing - how about you build your OWN fire instead of trying to flirt your way into having a man do it for you?? As a woman (and one with an "anything you can do, I can do better" attitude), I found them to be incredibly frustrating. I do like the girl who caught the chickens, and the one who owns the bridal shop - they both seem to have some sense. Hopefully more people will start to stand out as likeable - it's no fun to watch a bunch of people that I can't stand.

That was pretty incredible. Quick as lightning and no fear. I like her too.

A few notes:

1 - How dumb are the girls for all jumping up on the truck and tossing their stuff off and NOBODY watching it. I don't blame the guys for stealing their stuff - it's a competition!!

2 - How dumb was Kate (i think her name was Kate) that broke her wrist? Jeff said about 5 times "Fall on your back with your arms across your chest" and yet she lands on her hands.

3 - I would have NEVER have continued to play the challenge. You won! You've got immunity - no one in their right mind would say "yeah, lets play anyway." The point was to win - they won. Why take the slim chance that the girls win? Smart move by the men.

4 - I think it was dumb of Sabrina to give the idol to Colton. He's gonna be 1 and done after a tribal w/the immunity. Use it for some leverage or something. Clearly Colton has no allies and won't be going too far. I would have targeted someone in a stronger alliance and use it to my advantage. Although there isn't much advantage to get before the 1st tribal for a tribe that isn't yours.

5 - Super happy no redemption island. Really hope this is the return of reward challenges.

I thought the first episode was kind of annoying. The whole "girl power" thing completely backfired on the women and made them look like absolute fools.

I thought the guys made a good choice in ending the challenge early. I would have done the same.

Colton - get rid of him. The men won't respect him, and the women will only think of him as a nonthreatening pawn.

Alicia - couldn't stand her either. I thought that it was ridiculous for her to throw the other girl under the bus because she bartered with the men for fire. During her little tirade she tried to mention that it was stupid to barter with the men but at least they got fire out of it. Yeah...exactly.

I'm with you on all of these.

1. That was a lesson that Rupert taught us the first time he was on the show when the other tribe left their stuff unprotected and he grabbed it all and then traded it...DUH!!!

2. You knew that someone was going to get hurt because they continually showed Jeff telling them to keep their hands in. I would have liked to see her continue, though.

3. Exactly...super smart move. Why risk injury to one of your own to win something you had already won. The women should stop whining about it.

4. I think it was an OK move if it is used properly and she seemed to planting the seed telling him how he should use it. If it works, it would be a great move to get the stronger men out. I am getting sick of Colton already too.

5. AMEN to that. I'm also happy there aren't any returning "all-star" players.

My wife was passing by and giving it a look and thinks she may have to watch this season with me because "you can't put that many women together and not have some drama". Which is exactly why they did it.

The curly hair chick at tribal was classic..

She interrupts others... to try to throw the asian girl under the bus. Gets schooled, and then tries to play it off as someone was coming at her? Hopefully the other girls saw it for what it was.. that stupid girl getting owned.

When I saw people going off the jump.. I was like 'woah, can't believe they are doing this' being so risky.. and what happens.. dumb girl puts her hand down and rolls over it in the fall. Won't see any challenges like that anymore...

I thought the premiere episode was an incredible start to the season. I am a HUGE Survivor fan from the very first episode (only show I watch while on vacation at WDW).

It was like the show re-invented itself. The players were fun to watch and I enjoyed the social experiements that the producers put into play.

Tribes divided by gender living on the same beach. Who steals? Who crosses lines to talk? Then it was great in the Immunity!

Good episode, really looking forward to the rest!

I really thought the women were going to win that immunity challenge. Boy was I wrong. They were pathetic. The smart thing to do would have been to whack Kat, but they aren't playing smart. It'll be interesting to see how things shake down when the men lose immunity that first time.

Colton is grating on my every nerve. Sack up and go hand with the men tribe and quit crying about it. But I have to say some of his reactions are a riot.

I enjoyed much of the camera work in the episode. High Quality entertainment.

I'm loving that there isn't any Redemption Island and no previous players this season.

I wish the women would have gotten Kat off. She really does seem to be dumb, just dumb. I thought that it was interesting that many of the women said that if they could go back and change alliances they would. It is day 5 - there is still time!

Pretty good show overall. Glad to see Matt voted off. He came off like a cocky jerk. Nice to see the women win a couple of challenges and make this interesting. Colton is still annoying. Some weird previews of next weeks show.
