Surviving on Only Treats and Snacks

I'm not very hungry in Summer, and don't think I'll be that hungry in Orlando in october either. I sort of feel like I can just eat three snacks a day (Dole Float, Mickey Ice Cream, that organge dream thing, etc. If we get free dining, it's another story.

I know the ADR thing is big, but do many/most of you feel like you could get by on a just a few snacks a day at WDW? Would save a lot of money. Of course, a few drinks will sneak in there too (alcoholic and non).

Growing up, we usually did the snack thing, and I have friends now that only do snacks with their family at the parks; so I would say it's easy to get by on only snacking. Now-a-days, one of the draws for us to go to Disney is to enjoy the excellent restaurants, so we plan to sit down for lunch and/or dinner. But we don't snack at all if we have a meal. The other thing is that we like to do the sit down meals because it lets us rest and get into A/C. On the other hand, we are AP holders and live locally so we have plenty of time to do what we want. Growing up, we didn't have that luxury, so snacking throughout the day was more of a time saver and convenience. My friends who only do snacking also have APs, they just like the frugality of snacking and their kids are 7 & 9. They have been doing it for the past two years, so again, I'm sure you'll be fine just snacking through the day.

I could never do it. I would feel so horrible afterward. Too much quick service or fried food and I just feel so bad.

But not everything is fried! There are so many fresh options availible that you don't always have to go to the french fries and burgers. I love getting fruit or raw vegetable options (I'm a pescatarian) plus if you look at my post above you will see that you can find lighter fair around the parks, like salads, baked potatos etc etc. My rule of thumb is look for the places with Market or Produce in the name and you can never go wrong.

I...still prefer at least one table service meal per day. Sure there are healthy options, but there's just something missing

It is definitely doable, but you need to plan wisely. Snacks are often not balanced meals, and your body will feel the effects as your trip goes on. Feeling sluggish, crashing from the sugar highs, etc. You will definitely be dragging towards the end, or relying on sugary snacks/coffee to keep you going, only to crash harder, then need more sugar/coffee, and you get into a cycle.

I'll put it this way...to me it isn't a vacation if I am having to cook, that's one of the reasons I love WDW, there is no lack of food selections, if we go to the beach we can have a nice dinner or meal, but that also requires having to get in the car and go drive somewhere...so the answer is NO WAY!!! I live to eat, not eat to live and there is no way I could just do snacks, especially with so many different choices in fantastic restaurants.

We do have three ADRs booked, and we'll fit in some QS and food court meals. We'll probably end up doing TS at a couple of less popular places that aren't booked up. But I definitely feel like only one big meal a day is needed, for me at least. I do think using the occasional TS meal for the A/C is a good idea though - we may do it as much for that.

See, this is me. I try so hard, to eat healthy all year, and do tend to throw caution to the wind at Disney, but still am sort of careful of what I eat. Every other day, I eat healthy (salads, water instead of soda, no alcohol :::yes, I said it LOL:::) I rarely eat beef, (last year, I had half of a cheeseburger and loved it!!) But as other posters said, you can always split a QS meal too!! There is no way I could snack every day while on vacation though, my stomach would fight back!!!

I also do not normally eat a lot when it is really hot out, but no, I could not survive on the kind of snacks (Dole Whips and ice cream bars) that you mentioned. I could easily do just fine on counter service items since there are plenty of light and healthy meal choices available.
