Surprise fastpasses

we recently returned from florida and i wanted to ask/ share something to all. While getting fastpasses for mission space and Test track we received "Surprise fastpasses" for honey i shrunk the audience. While i think HISTA is an ok show, i dont think i really need a fastpass for it and found it a little strange that they were being distributed in a "surprise" fashion at the other two rides.

Can anyone shed some light or feelings on this?

They do it to get you to the other side of the park. If they give people fastpasses to get on immediately people will go there thinking they can't get on immediately whenever they want. It is just a way to get crowds to the mellow part of Future World.

It's a good idea to lure those who don't know better over there. Anybody who has been to Epcot before should know that you don't need fastpasses for HISTA. I wish they would do this for something more worthwhile, like Space Mountain and a Suprise FP for Splash.

Body Wars also has surprise fastpasses. Heck, it doesn't even utilize Fastpass! Rather, it's a ticket to go to the front of the line.

Max wait is usually about 10 minutes on regular days, but these are designed to show what's at Wonders of Life.

When it's open.

I think this is a good idea, as it could lead guests to parts of the park that they may not go otherwise.

When the Bear Playhouse was suffering from attendance issues in Disneyland, Splash Mountain Fastpasses advertised it. Good idea. :)

Hmmm... sounds like a bad omen when you put it that way...

Are HISTA and Body Wars on their way out soon?

Since Wonders of Life is closed I'd aim to think body wars is.

I have no idea about HISTA but they should do away with it and put Captain EO back in  :D

I think bring back Captain EO would cause all kinds of problems. With all the legal trouble Jackson is in, Disney would probably need to have children under 12 sign a waiver before going on the attraction.

I've been hearing about the surprise FPs for awhile, but I"ve never gotten one. I wouldn't care about getting one for Body Wars (since I hate it) or HISTA (since you don't need it), but that surprise Dinosaur one sounds really cool. I love that ride! It's practically the only reason I go to the AK.

I was given a Body Wars FP when I was there in May and waited forever to get on so I just left. :p

I would be very upset if I got a surprise FP. You get a FP so you can go on a ride you WANT to go on. Is it possible to tell a CM that you got on of the special ones and you request a one for the ride that ou wanted to go on?

Does anyone besides me pick up random fast passes from counters, the ground, etc.?

I can't tell you how many times I have just found random fast-passes around the parks, or especially on tables left as trash.

Usually it's only good if you are solo touring (since you rarely find more than one of the same type), but I've found that lots of people don't use them or trash them.

Although I'm not going dumpster diving for them, LOL, I have to say I pick up at least one a day when touring, sometimes many more.

Just something I'm curious if other people have had similar experiences. I hate waiting in lines - well, I know everyone hates lines, but I really have an aversion to them - and I like to ride the same ride repeatedly, so I take anything I can get. :)

I was in Epcot in Aug of last year during the Mission Space soft opening. I didn't even know it was operating but I got a suprise fast pass to it at Living with the Land...and boy was that a pleasant suprise. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go on it until my next trip in 2006. For this reason alone i really enjoy the suprise fastpass...conveniently my wife was pregnant and couldn't ride so the single pass worked out perfectly.

In August, I got a surprise fastpass with my Mission: Space one for HISTA, I was wondering, is there a surprise fastpass for everyone that gets a pass for the original ride? If not wouldn't that cause problems for family members that don't obtain a bonus fastpass?
